Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Week 8 was rather a big week at Coomera Rivers. Graduation dinner, class field trips, swimming lessons, chess finals, strings concert, water and zoology studies and of course, the colour explosion. All this is on top of regular class activities as well. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the success of these events and activities.
I was amused:
- with the girls room at sleepover with how many suitcases were used for the one night sleepover; and
- with the boys room at sleepover on how the boys could make one small bag of belongings spread from almost one side of the hall to the other.
Graduation dinner
Thank you to Mrs Artz and Mrs McMurtrie for coordinating the Year 6 Graduation Dinner this week. The full story of the evening is later in this issue but it truly was a wonderful evening. The 'feel' of the room was one of positive collegiality and unity. It was a wonderful event.
Colour explosion day
Thank you to our P&C and staff for organising and running the Colour Explosion this week. It was a lot of fun and the Facebook comments were very positive. Family colour explosion returns next year - COVID dependent of course!
Report cards
We will email report cards to families on Tuesday 8 December. Please check junk boxes as sometimes they deliver there.

Awards assemblies
We are holding individual assemblies for our annual awards this year. The assemblies will be held in the school hall. We will be inviting one parent of each family to attend. We will also inform families of award winners before the event. This is because we are limited to one person for each 2m2 and with 180 students and their teachers, our COVID plan limits of the hall area are quickly reached.

Attending the assemblies
Given the capacity of the hall and the government’s requirement for us to only have one person for each 2m2, we can only invite one parent/guest per student. While we recognise this is not ideal, we are grateful we are fortunate enough to have some contact with our families. It’s been sooo long. We are also looking at the logistics of being able to live stream each of the assemblies via Facebook Live.
As part of our COVID Plan, registration for each of the assemblies is required. Each attendee will also be asked to sign the register upon arrival and adhere to social distancing at all times. If you have more than one child at Coomera Rivers, you are able to book into multiple assemblies for their year level. We will need to remove any double bookings should we notice a double up for a child in a year level. Please help us be fair to all families and help keep our children and community safe.
We will need to close bookings on Thursday 3 December at 9:00am. This will allow us time to organise seating for parents to meet the COVID plan requirements.

Please disregard the ‘times’ on the booking schedule. These are not times but places at the assembly. You will still need to select a 'time' to secure your booking however the time has nothing to do with the start time of the assembly. After registering, you will receive an email confirmation of your booking. Please bring this confirmation with you on the day.
Please note, if your child is receiving a special award at one of these assemblies, you will receive an email from your child’s classroom teacher.
