Great work this week
Year 2 Water Awareness
Year 2 have been studying all things water, including the water cycle and the fact that it is must be conserved as it is a limited and renewable resource. 2MC have been making reminder posters for everyone in the school.

2M have created a Water Awareness Walk. The walk is based on the daily walk for water undertaken by some children in Africa. The comparison that the students undertook was very impressive and it involved a meshing of maths, science, humanities and English. Our Assistant Regional Director went on the learning walk with the class last Wednesday and was most impressed with the student explanations of their learning.
Classes from all over the school also went on the water awareness walk with an expert from 2M. Maya in Prep O was passionately inspired by what she learned that she shared her learning with her parents, and, with her mum and dad, has since made a donation to the United Nations World Food Programme to help other children around the world. She is already becoming quite the global citizen and is demonstrating what our school promotes - Good at learning - Good at life.

Excellence Awards
Well done to these students on earning their Excellence Awards this week. We work hard - right up until the last day of school.

Lorax dress up day
3GB and 3B enjoyed a dress up day party this week with a Lorax theme.

Planning for 3D printing
Year 4 were busy this week as they designed their item for 3D printing. This is a task that really challenges spatial awareness. Well done everyone!

Team effort helps wombats
2A and 2W and their support team are official Wombassaders. Well done to the students and families both these classes. Together, they raised over $96 to support the much needed funds will pay for antibiotics to help our beautiful wombats, Elliot, Harry and Devikaa who are currently recovering at the Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary. We feel so privileged to be part of such a special project.
A special thank you to our wonderful cleaners, Lyn and Jacqui, who organised the fundraiser and took all our our cans and bottles to the recycling depot. These ladies worked closely with the staff at Sleepy Burrows to make this happen for our students.

Meeting some gymnastics idols
This week, Harlan and Orell met the AIS Men’s Gymnasts. They are currently on the Gold Coast for a week of training and for the rest of the week will train at Coomera Indoor Sports Centre. This was a tremendous opportunity for these young gymnasts to meet their current idols.
The boys were excited to be able to chat with Tyson Bull who will represent Australia at the Tokyo Olympics in Horizontal Bars and Chris Remkes who won Gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 on Vault.

Basketball success
In just his first season, Charlie has been excelling with the Coomera City Warriors Basketball team. He earned selection in the A grade under 11 team for the Coomera City Warriors. He has also been selected to play in the under 12 Northern Gold Coast Seahawks team. Congratulations Charlie!
Pelicans are premiers in 2020
Underdogs for most of the season and finishing fourth following the season of matches, the Pelicans needed to play the top team last week in the elimination final. They won and made their way into the grand final. The final went down to the wire ... 19-19 at three quarter time. But in the final quarter, the Pelicans pulled away to win the match by two points. Our girls, Leah, Tiyahnn, Kiahnaa, were just so proud of their achievement.
