Great work this week
Year 6 camp was ... ummmm.... muddy
Monday morning saw our Year 6 cohort depart to Emu Gully for their final camp as primary school students. From the moment we stepped off the bus, it was three action packed days of activities that focused on the character values of Courage, Mateship, Sacrifice and Perseverance.
The camp activities were divided into three categories:
Introductory Activities
These activities introduced students to how the system works at Emu Gully. It also provided the Emu Gully staff insight into the dynamics within our class groupings. Students had to learn to think outside the square, listen to each other and identify strengths within their team. Introductory activities included Chicken Leadership, The Charge & No Man’s Land, Swinging Log, Commando Cable Crossing & Escape from Colditz.
Core Activities
Based on historical events and theatres of conflict including WW1, WW2 and Vietnam, these activities provided both context and purpose. The focus was on experiences and demonstrating the core character values of Courage, Mateship, Sacrifice and Perseverance. The activities included Tunnel Rats, Siege of Tobruk, Bridge over the River Kwai, The Kokoda Track and the Night Walk.
Extension Activity
The final activity provided to the students was Storm the Fort. This activity provided the group the opportunity to extend themselves and show qualities of leadership, communication and teamwork, while being covered head to toe in flour.
Activities aside, fears were overcome, relationships between students were strengthened and memories were made that will last a lifetime.
Thank you sincerely to the staff and volunteers both at camp and back at school, who ensured that the camp was a wonderful experience for our children.

Tasty days at school
With a strange week of restrictions, 2T had time to participate in some tasty activities. They very much enjoyed their cookie decorating afternoon.

Easter hat parade and performances
Our Prep and Year 1 classes were delighted to be able to parade their Easter hats and perform for an appreciative audience. Thank you to the staff and parents who helped the children prepare their hats - they looked brilliant.

And thank you to Prep M for all adding to my hat too. I was most impressed!
Loose parts play was trialled this week
Well this in new! Being able to participate in creative play using a range of materials was terrific fun.
