Great work this week
Understanding diversity and tolerance
In 2D and 2W we value our diversity, and what a diverse range of students we have! Today we had Kylie (Muhammed’s mum) come in to teach us all about what Ramadan is and why Muhammed is currently fasting for thirty days. Ramadan is a Muslim holiday in which they fast to develop a sense of empathy for those who don’t have access to food and water. It is a month full of good deeds and family dinners. We were very inspired by the whole concept of developing this empathy, that we decided to create our very own, 'Good Deed Tree' and made some lanterns to decorate our classroom.
We really enjoy having visitors in 2D and 2W, just as we did when Tyne’s mum taught us sign language! If you have anything you would like to share with our class, please feel free to email me and we can organise a time for you to pop in.

Loose parts play is starting
Mrs Young believes that Thursday was her best day as a teacher - EVER!!!
On Thursday, some students headed down to Bunnings Pimpama with Mrs Young and Mr Ken to order some timber for our new mud kitchens and wood work benches. While they were at Bunnings, Sjann, the Activities Organiser gave us a tour of the store. She showed great generosity and gave each of the students a giant Bunnings hat, a pencil case and a painting apron.
The students then went and picked out some paint brushes and paint for the current Small World project that we are working on.

And later in the day, our wonderful Assistant Teachers had a personal play session in our new Loose Parts zone with around 150 very lucky students. Mr Barnes and Mr Anthony had just cut the grass on the hill and this created perfect conditions for sliding down the hill on a flattened cardboard box.
