OSHC News - Vacation Care
April vacation care was a great success, having our biggest numbers ever! Each day was jam packed with activities and experiences for the children (and staff) to engage with and enjoy. We got out and about on four excursions, heading to the movies to see Tom and Jerry and visiting some of our other OSHC friends at Camp Hill and exploring their amazing loose parts playground in the first week. In the second week we went to the Brisbane Museum and got to have a look and play in the SparkLab exhibit, and finished off vacation care with rock climbing and mini golf at Game Over.
We had two wonderful incursions run by Bubble'licious Creations and Ocean Life Education. The Bubble'licious incursion was a huge hit with the kids, as they got to watch a spectacular bubble show and then have a turn at doing their own bubble tricks. Our Ocean Life incursion was very educational, learning so much about sea animals and in particular, sharks. The children were able to touch and feel sea cucumbers, starfish, sea urchins, and even a turtle!
Our Loose Parts area was officially opened over the holidays and our children got to test it out. It was wonderful to see the children working collaboratively with each other to create structures, cubbies, swings, etc. After our Camp Hill OSHC excursion the children took away lots of ideas, tips and tricks on what to do with our loose parts. This area has been a great tool to get children excited about playing outdoors and taking risks!
Our educators put lots of hard work into their themed days to ensure the children were provided with an interesting, entertaining vacation care! Planning for Winter Vacation Care has already begun and can't wait to see what the educators come up with for it. We look forward to what Term 2 brings us. From all of the OSHC team, we thank you for your continious support throughout not only Vacation Care, but throughout the entire year!
