Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Just 25 school days remain for the term and we have plenty to get done, explore and experience. This starts this week with inter-school sport and Under 8s day.
Your stuff misses you
It is a really good idea for parents to check the lost property baskets we have at the school office. Next Friday they will be emptied and remaining items will be given to charities or families who would benefit from the items. Jumpers, hats and drink bottles are all many in number.
A yummy start to the day
Than you to Woolies at Coomera East and our super P&C for providing breakfast for Year 2 students this week. Nutrigrain is still the favourite cereal and bananas the preferred fruit.

Inter-school sport begins
Our teams are off to inter-school sport next week - the first of four Mondays. The draw is shown below. Thank you sincerely to staff for their coaching, umpiring and holding the fort back at school.
Uniform blitz
We will be holding a uniform blitz from next Monday. Each day across the week we will be checking for correct uniform. Every family who has enrolled at Coomera Rivers has spent time at an induction where the uniform requirements were explained. Every family has then completed an agreement at enrolment to show that they will meet the requirements. Please read the code to familiarise yourself with what is required. Click here for the document.
You can avoid problems simply by having your child in correct and complete school uniform or, if there is a problem, by sending your child's teacher an email or note to explain the problem. The focus in Week 6 will be socks. The focus in Week 7 will be jumpers and the focus in Week 8 will be correct shoes.

Play times and areas
We are changing our playtimes from next week and more significantly, we will be promoting multi-age play in most areas of the school. We will still be having some segregated areas but most will be open to all students. I will send home some photos from the week in the next issue but I am really confident that this trial will be very successful.
Next week we will enjoy Queen sending us back to class from play as well. (The class with the best attendance gets to select the bell song each week).
Loose Parts play
Our Loose Parts zones are quickly becoming the place to be during play times.
Every day is something different and the possibilities appear to be endless. This week, we have been reinforcing expectations and routines for when students arrive and depart the zone.
We have also been working with students to use their creativity. For many students, the first 5 minutes sees them doing laps of the space. Watching them, you just know that they are saying to themselves, 'What can I play with here?' As they watch those around them, students quickly find someone to co-create with. They are often not friends, and they may not have even met but they come together over a common way of thinking and a desire to play.
We need some diggers and trucks for some of our 'Small World' play areas. If you have any that you want to re-home, please send them into the school office.

Kind regards
Vic
