Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
There is never a quiet moment at Coomera Rivers. We are steadfast in our focus on learning and opportuntites for students.
Free dress day - That's my team! (9 June)
With Queensland poised to win the first State of Origin match on Wednesday evening, the Student Council felt that this was a great oppotunity for everyone at Coomera Rivers to represent their favourite team too. It could be Queensland or that other team, or your basketball, rugby or soccer club or even your favourite overseas soccer team. You might wear the jersey or perhaps, just your favourite team's colours this coming Wednesday.
So make the most of this day as you highlight your support for your team!
Date: Wednesday 9 June
NO GOLD COIN DONATION today.

Visitors from Central Queensland
This past week, our school welcomed our colleagues from Parkhurst State School in Rockhampton. Parkhurst was the winner of 2019 Showcase Award for Excellence in Innovation and they were very interested in how our classrooms operate with iPads. Words that highlighted their visit were around - #flexibility #differentiation #workflow #engagement #access #choice.
Like the many other guests to our school, they were very impressed with our school, our students and our staff. They complimented the expectations we uphold and the pride we have for what we do each and every day. We look forward to sharing more with them.

Mixed play is golden
Since the introduction of mixed play, we have seen another style of play emerge thanks to the younger students. Our seniors are very kind and nurturing of their younger school mates and share and support their play - together.
The nothern Loose Parts zone was transformed into a gold rush community and little huts and stores emerge along the tree line. The play this week was simply awesome and was the perfect example of mixed aged loose parts.

Mini-worlds
Some new mini-worlds play have been popping up around the school. The photos below show the areas being designed and established by students for other students to use. The level of attention to detail and the depth of engagement by these young designers is brilliant to watch. Well done Miss Jones!

Uniform blitz continues
Our blitz on correct uniform has started. Each day at school we will be checking for correct uniform. Every family who has enrolled at Coomera Rivers has spent time at an induction where the uniform requirements were explained. Every family has then completed an agreement at enrolment to show that they will meet the requirements. Please read the code to familiarise yourself with what is required. Click here for the document.
You can avoid problems simply by having your child in correct and complete school uniform or, if there is a problem, by sending your child's teacher an email or note to explain the problem.
- The focus in Week 6 was socks.
- The focus in Week 7 was jumpers and
- The focus in Week 8 will be correct shoes.

Exciting future events
Student well-being survey
The survey is only for students in Year 4 and 5 and it will be great to see their views on well-being at school. It is optional and parents can withdraw their child from the survey process should they wish. More information can be found later in this issue.
Fathering project
We are launching our Fathering Project with the Pizza and Paper Planes event on June 22. Please look for the information later in this issue.
Community support
Adrian and Les from Oxenford Men’s Shed kindly assisted our Year 4 students and teachers in preparation for the Amazing Bee Hotel which they are creating next week. The men went to the effort of cutting the huge bundles of bamboo into shorter pieces. Coomera Rivers has been working closely with the Oxenford Men’s Shed on several projects now, which is proving to be a very positive learning partnership. Thank you to the Men's Shed for their help.

Kind regards
Vic
