Principal's news

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues

You cannot help but be impressed with the world of opportunities that our children are offered at Coomera Rivers.  Read on and you will see the academic, cultural and sporting activities that our children have enjoyed this past 5 school days, as well as some wonderful student character development.  This is what we do as we aim to be Good at learning - Good at life.

NAIDOC week

Thank you to Ms Waide and Miss Conroy who travelled to Cleveland this week to set up our display for the SER NAIDOC week exhibition. The display was open to the public this week. Featured was our new artwork by Rhianne and Rachel Williams which will officially be presented to the school Monday and will be featured on our new staff shirts and future student uniforms. Our display is looking great.

Uniform blitz continues

Each day we check students are wearing their correct uniform. Every family who has enrolled at Coomera Rivers has spent time at an induction where the uniform requirements were explained. Every family has then completed an agreement at enrolment to show that they will meet the requirements. Please read the code to familiarise yourself with what is required.  Click here for the document.

You can avoid problems simply by having your child in correct and complete school uniform or, if there is a problem, by sending your child's teacher an email or note to explain the problem.

Please note that there are restrictions to students using bright hair colours, unconventional cuts and styles.  These are explained in the code.

Report cards this week

Your child's report card is being emailed to you on Thursday of next week.  If you access QSchools, you will being able to access it from Wednesday morning.  While academic achievement and progress is important, I want to highlight to you the importance of effort.  This will be the single determining factor for your child to turn their grades at school into success in life.  Their preparedness to do the work without any sense of entitlement or expectation on others is key.  There is no substitute for a strong work ethic.

So when you measure academic achievement next week, make sure you give equal weighting and acknowledgement to effort.

Wear house colours on the last day of school

We have been holding out House Cup across the term.  Each week we tally all of the tokens that have been collected by students for showing great character and citizenship.  And while Colman is currently leading, it is far too close to call them winners at the moment.  We will all find out on Friday when the winning house will be announced.

We are encouraging students, staff and parents to wear house colours or house shirts on Friday.  No gold coin donation.

Kind regards

Vic
