Regional AFL
Congratulations to Noah who was away at Cairns recently, playing for the South Coast AFL team. South Coast played well and finished 4th in the state. Well done, Noah!
Regional AFL (Q-Schools Cup)
On Tuesday, Coomera Rivers took a boys and a girls AFL team to Ormeau Bulldogs AFL ground to compete against many other schools in the All Schools Cup AFL competition. It was a beautiful day, and then it wasn't (with storms coming across), and then it was again. We couldn't be more impressed with our 2 teams and how they carried themselves throughout the day. The effort was amazing, each team got better and better throughout the day, and everyone was smiling.
Our girls were lucky enough to win the Grand Final, which means they progress to the next level of Q-Schools Cup. Well done to Mr Cope, Mr Burrows, Craig and Dylan for their continued support through the AFL season.
Players of the Day
Girls: Kaysiyah, Remmy and Amity
Boys: Jaden, Reahn and Noah

Inter-school sport
The winter season of inter-school sport concluded on Monday. On behalf of the whole Coomera Rivers State School community, I would like to thank and acknowledge the tireless work of our teachers and coaches who give up their time to give our students these amazing opportunities. Thank-you Miss King, Mrs Walsh, Mr Burrows, Mrs Barnes, Mr Bradley, Mrs Weatherby, Miss Findlay, Callum and Campbell (from OSHC) and Mr Raffin.
Congratulations to our Students who represented our school with pride and respect. It’s enjoyable to win and experience success but we participate in things such as inter-school sport for 'fun, fitness and friendship' and that was one of our great successes this season. Another great success were all the teams enjoying victories throughout the season. Participation in inter-school sport is just one of the ways we build teamwork and resilience here at Coomera Rivers.
Special acknowledgement to two of our teams that are the Broadwater District Premiers for 2021. Congratulations to our Year 6 rugby league team for winning the Broadwater District Premiership this season. Our school is now ‘back to back to back’ Premiers in that category. Congratulations also to our Senior A Netball team coached by Miss King who dominated the competition and deservedly earned another Premiership.

Athletics trials
Our selection trials for athletics are coming this week. This is a selection trials and not the house carnival. The trials are essentially for 10 years+ students who have qualified for the finals.
Runners Club
Two of our runners created a new runners club distance record this week when they completed 21 laps in the 25 minutes. This equates to just over 5km. Scarlette and Amity have really set the bar high.
We would love to see other students and parents join us each Tuesday and Thursday morning before school. We keep a tally of the distance totals and runners will earn a wrist band at 50km and 100km.
Congratulations to Belete and Sylus on earning Runner of the Week.

Student achievements
Gymnastics
Harlan competed at his very first Men’s Artistic Gymnastics at the Maroochy Grand Prix last weekend. He earned 6th place in High Bar and Rings, 4th Place in Vault and he smashed everyone’s expectations and took home silver with a 9.35 (out of 10) for Pommel. He is very chuffed with his results.
