Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
This issue of our Celebrations Newsletter is a bumper edition and is without a doubt, the single biggest newsletter ever in terms of opportunities, achievement and fun at school. I hope you see our focus on Good at learning - Good at life.
We have been on excursion, held our Pyjama Day, celebrated NAIDOC Week, completed report cards, attended music camp and writer's camp, held HASS presentations, presented Diamond level achievements and special assembly awards, held Under 8s activities, competed at the STEM Olympiad, attended the REACH program, participated at inter-school sport and so much more. Read on for the reports and photo galleries.

Report cards
Report cards have been emailed home earlier today (Friday). Thank you to the teachers who have invested many hours preparing the reports. You will instantly see the differences with these. I urge parents to consider the report cards as they head to parent-teacher interviews next term.
If you did not receive your reports, please check your junk / spam folder, as sometimes they end up there.
Parent-teacher interviews
Parent-teacher interviews are planned for Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 July. You can make your appointment by following the information below. We acknowledged NAIDOC Week at school this week with a range of classroom and school activities and even had our own mini-museum. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this success of celebrating of our First Nation's culture.

Pyjama day
We celebrated a great term with pyjama day this week. Staff and students really enjoyed the day. Visit your class Seesaw pages for more images.

Book Fair
Thank you to the families and staff who provided fantastic support for our mini-Book Fair this week. It was pleasing to see everyone so excited about books. We sold around $5300 worth of books. This gives us book rewards of $600 and Scholastic Reward Points of around $900 which we use throughout the year on more books for the library.
REACH and Stem Olympiad
Thank you to Miss Katie for leading our STEM Olympiad team this week and Mrs Boyd for leading the students at the REACH program. The children involved thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities in the Arts (REACH) and Maths/Science (STEM Olympiad).

Band camp
This week, eight members of our Senior Band were invited to the Regional Music Camp at Tallebudgerra Beach. They were immersed in music, made heaps of new friends and enjoyed the beach life - albeit for a brief few days. Thank you to Mrs Blyth and Mr Owens for leading and supporting our young musicians.

Congratulations Hydee
Hydee had an amazing weekend at the cheerleading and dance competition recently. She won gold and bronze in both cheerleading competitions and competed with distiction against older children in the dance competition. Wow!

Buddies are designing and collaborating
Last week in DigiDesign with Mrs Hadfield, 5LN came down to buddy up with 1B to collaborate on some timed Lego design challenges. Each Year 1 student had a senior partner to complete the design. It was great to hear the discussions, and see the resulting builds. Having two different age groups work together highlighted how students think and what’s important to them when planning and constructing. What wonderful ideas our students have! Thanks to Mrs Leick and her students for joining us.

Thank you
Thank you sincerely to our staff team and P&C executive who have worked tirelessly this past term. We certainly had some tricky obstacles to deal with. Not only did we overcome these challenges, but we an absolutely completed an outstanding school term.
I hope that everyone enjoys the winter school vacation period. School resumes on Monday 11 July at 8:30am.
Breaking news regarding vaccination
This morning, the premier announced that the COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements for Workers in a high-risk setting Direction will be repealed from 1:00am, 30 June 2022.
At this point in time I have not received direction from the Department, but once we have met the requirements, we will let families know of any changes.
All of our newsletters
A school of our size relies on highly effective communication. Consequently, you might be suprised to learn that we actually have 5 weekly newsletters that are sent out to different groups. They include:
- Celebrations newsletter: This is the MAIN newsletter and includes lots of photos and snapshots of great learning and is focused on our kids. This is sent out each fortnight. Only those who subscribe to the school newsletter will receive it.
- Events and reminders newsletter: This is sent home each other week (alternates with celebrations newsletters). Only those who subscribe to the school newsletter will receive it.
- OSHC Newsletter: This is our main OSHC newsletter and it is sent home weekly. Only OSHC families who subscribe to this newsletter will receive it.
- Weekly notes: This is the staff only newsletter and it covers a lot of the organisation and logistics for events and activities that staff do behind the scenes. Only staff have access to this information.
- Curriculum News: This is our fortnightly teaching and learning newsletter. The content focuses on the Australian Curriculum, brilliant pedagogy and teacher achievements. Only staff have access to this information. Except today where it seemed to go out to families as well. We will find out why this happened and fix the problem. In the meantime, feel free to peruse it to see what teachers do behind the scenes.
Kind regards
Vic
