NAIDOC Week

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As this falls during our school holidays we took the opportunity to celebrate NAIDOC week early at Coomera Rivers in a variey of ways across Week 10.

Each student from Prep to Year 6 decorated a paper hand with something meaningful to them to celebrate First Nations Culture. They made a beautiful site displayed along the entrance pathway in the school.

A mini museum was set up in the iCentre with different Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artefacts for students to visit. Thank you to any families who contributed.
A Deadly Doors competition saw classrooms get creative with different displays.  Classes also celebrated in their own way - whether this was through reading Indigenous stories or visiting the school's Yarning Circle to conduct cultural lessons.
