Over the last two weeks, students in Year three and five completed the annual National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy. The NAPLAN assessments provide a valuable snapshot of our students ability in the areas of Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. This information is used to track student growth over time, to target interventions and to inform school-wide improvement initiatives.

This year, Coomera Rivers completed the assessment online, a format that is very familiar and comfortable for our students. Students approach the test with enthusiasm and determination. It was clear that every student felt calm and confident, demonstrating a positive attitude and a Growth Mindset. With support from the P&C, students celebrated the end of the NAPLAN assessment period with an Effort Celebration.

I would like to acknowledge the significant contributions of our teaching staff, in particular our Year Three and Five teachers, in delivering exceptional lessons each and every day that develop strong literacy and numeracy skills.
