Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
We are now officially half way through Term 1. My highlights of the year thus far include:
- Prep and Year 1 reading lessons. These are already roaring ahead and our phonics program called Read Write Inc, is giving young readers the tools to break the code of the written word.
- Year 6 leadership where the students have impressed me with their eagerness to serve the school. The Year 6 camp was also a fantastic event.
- The Hall garden at the front of the school looks incredible. I can't wait to see the crops ready for harvest. Thank you to our P&C for this amazing facility!
- Student attendance has improved as well. Although it is still early in the year, it is vital to come to school every day (unless illness prevents this). Our attendance target for everyone is 95%.
- NAPLAN practice for Year 3 and Year 5 was successful. It is a big challenge to organise every student for this task - but we made it happen.
- My invitation from Mrs Blyth to join the Junior Strings Ensemble playing the double bass. So far so good!

School photos
Our school photos are scheduled for next week. All students must be in full BLUES uniform for photos. Please ensure that shoes are cleaned and polished and hair is prepared.
Using the Kiss n Go Zone at school
In the morning (Between 8:00am - 8:40am)
- Please never park in the Kiss n Go and walk into the school. Please use the car park spaces instead.
- Please keep moving forward and drop the kids as far along the Kiss n Go as you can travel. They will be fine walking into the school.
- Be organised, respectful and patient
During the day (Between 8:40am - 2:00pm)
- You can use the Kiss n Go to park to come into the office but the car park is still a better option.
In the afternoon (Between 2:00 - 3:00pm)
- Please never park in the Kiss n Go and walk into the school between these times. Please use the car park spaces instead. You CAN park your car in the Kiss n Go to wait for the bell to sound so long as you stay in it and keep moving forward should spaces open up.
- Always keep moving forward. Your children will find you and we have many staff who can assist you.
- Always comply with the directions of the supervising staff respectfully. They are trying to help everyone. We will report abuse, aggression and offensive language to the police.
- Be organised, respectful and patient
Uniforms
Please ensure that your children come to school in correct school uniform each day - including correct shoes. If there is a problem, simply let your child's teacher know. If you need assistance with uniforms, please contact the school office.
- Blues uniform: Black leather (leather-look) traditional school shoes
- Sports uniform: All black joggers
- Socks for both uniforms: Plain white tennis style socks (just plain white)

Attendance at school
To be Good at learning - Good at life, I need children to maximise outcomes from every learning day. There will be 49 school days this term. I need everyone to aim to be at school for 46 of them. I intend to celebrate excellent attendance each term with those students by inviting everyone who has been successful with achieving this goal to my BBQ breakfast in Week 10.
Kind regards
Vic
