Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
I love watching the learning and interaction of our students. While I didn't capture this photo, I wish I did. It epitomises the care and character of our children at their work.
ANZAC Services
We stood as a nation this week to recognise the service from Australian and New Zealand men and women who established and continue to uphold the freedoms we enjoy today.
And we stood as a school community as one small part of this national event when we completed our two school services on Monday. As a proud Australian, I was filled with pride and gratitude with the manner in which our children led these school events.

Attendance at school
We need to account for every day that your child is away from school.
School social worker has started at Coomera Rivers
As part of our intention for students to be Good at learning - Good at life, our school has employed a social worker to support students and families in need. Her name is Vanessa McInnes and I am excited about her joining our school community. Ms McInnes started at Coomera Rivers just over a week ago and has already met with many staff and students. Across the next couple of weeks, she will be contacting families of children who are missing too much school.
Please contact the school office if you wish to meet with her.
Inter-school sport starts soon
The inter-school sport season is approaching and teams have been selected. At Coomera Rivers, sport is an extra-curricular activity that we provide for students to enjoy. Our sporting ethos is - Fun - Fitness - Friendship.
Eligibility: To keep their place in the team, all players need to display high levels of behaviour at school. Any major or serious behaviour breach might see students dropped from the team. Players also need to represent our school with pride and promote our reputation while at sport. Poor behaviour at sporting venues might also see students dropped from the team for future rounds.
Team uniforms: Our school provides team uniforms for students who wish to participate in inter-school sport. We require a one-off refundable deposit each year PLUS a $5 hire fee for each sport. This is a very cost effective way for children to be involved in sport on a regular basis.
We are a team first school and all players have responsibilities.
- All players must wear the complete team uniform - no exceptions.
- All players must have and wear a school hat - no exceptions.
- All players must have correct socks - no exceptions.
- All players must wear their black sports shoes to and from the venue and change into football boots / netball shoes once they arrive or depart.
Contacting parents: We consider it to be a responsibility of the student (& family) to be ready for sport. There is no opportunity to contact families to bring a change of uniform to school at the last minute. This means that any player who is not in correct uniform, will not be permitted to attend and parents will forfeit their payments for the day.
Parents: We encourage families to come along to watch the matches and cheer on our teams. We play inter-school sport for fun, fitness and friendship. We do not play to win at all costs.
Spirit and sportsmanship: There is no place for dissent towards the referees or umpires, teachers, team mates or the opposition. Any back chat, arguing or foul play from players or verbal dissent from parents will automatically result in the supervising teachers considering if the player will be removed for the remainder of the sports season. There is no additional warning or second chance.
Free dress day
Our school community is just the best. Thank you to everyone for their support and generosity. I will provide more details in the next issue.

Have a great long weekend.
