Hello, my name is Chloe and I’m trying to help my best friend Yasmyn and her family during this devastating time. Yasmyn has just been diagnosed with a rare brain disease.
Six weeks ago Yasmyn started to get headaches which then led to confusion and feeling generally unwell. Not long after, she woke up one day and couldn’t read or write. She started getting very stressed out and her mental health started declining very quickly. Two days after that, she was walking her daughter to school and on the way back she had gotten lost because she couldn’t remember how to get home (when it’s a 5 minute walk around the corner)
Three weeks after, she went to the hospital which they did a CT scan and they were very concerned. Since then she has been transported three times to different hospitals to try find the best possible treatment for her. The results have come back with NMDA Receptor Encephalitis - her own antibodies have attacked most of her brain.
Within a week she has gone from having full conversations to not being able to form a sentence at all. She has lost memory and cognitive skills.
She is having constant silent seizures and MRIs done with no sign of improvement. The doctors have hope that she may recover from this as she is only 28yrs young but she is already on her 3rd line of treatment, if her body rejects the 4th line then we will have to seek treatment globally.
Her wonderful partner Jordan has had to take work off so he can take their daughter to school and back but also be with Yasmyn during the days. They have no other source of income, so the funds would go towards helping them in this difficult time so Jordan can be there to keep Yasmyn’s brain active. For everyone that knows Yasmyn, you know how generally beautiful she is, extremely caring and would do anything for everyone that she loves Now it’s our time to be there for her!
