There is a lot of information in this week's edition of the newsletter so please take your time to note everything that is coming across the next few weeks.

Thank you in advance to parents and teachers for strengthening our partnerships.
Good luck to our P&C
Our P&C has been short-listed for the annual P&C Queensland awards. The announcement will be made tomorrow night at the gala dinner. Regardless of the outcome, I am already extremely grateful for the contribution to our school & community by such a fine executive and hope that they win recognition for this. They truly deserve it.
Sport at school
I have been very impressed with the sportsmanship and school pride shown by our children as they represent our school, particularly at interschool sport where we play netball, touch football, rugby league and basketball.

IMPORTANT! Electric scooters at school
Over the past year we have seen the growth of electric scooters at school. I was surprised to learn of legal requirements pertaining to the use of electric scooters with which we all need to comply.
The most significant issue for our children is the requirement for riders to 12 years of age AND be escorted by an adult. Essentially this will stop our students from using an electric scooter.
To give families time to make changes, we have set 31 August as the LAST DAY that electric scooters can be brought to school - unless families comply with the laws surrounding their use of course.
A full explanation of the requirements can be found at Queensland Transport .
Rules for personal mobility devices
A broad range of personal mobility devices can be used in Queensland. You must comply with the rules for personal mobility devices and the general road rules as they are classified as a type of vehicle.
- Children under 12 years of age must not ride personal mobility devices including electric scooters.
- A person between the age of 12-16 must be accompanied by a supervising adult while using the device.
- Remember, people of all abilities use our paths and not everyone can easily move around a device that might be blocking the path.
- Personal mobility device riders who break the road rules will be given the same fines as motorists, but will not accumulate demerit points.
Free dress day (Friday 18 August)
Our student council are organising a free dress this coming Friday 18 August. The colour theme is ORANGE to acknowledge Bullying No Way day. Our school will be completing activities each day to reinforce this message and we ask that families reiterate it at home. Please make a GOLD COIN donation to our student council on this day.
We use the definitions for the national bullying site (Click here) so please check here so that your message is consistent with ours.
