Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Our class numbers have been balanced and our class structure has been reset this week. We can now accelerate into the 2024 school year and all that is ahead. Thank you to staff and families for their support for the restructure of our classes - your positivity is very much appreciated. The changes went very smoothly and our classes are now ready to face the year ahead.
Please make sure that you update your Schools24 details following the class changes.
We are here for learning
As I outlined in Newsletter 1, our school purpose is clear - We are here for learning. We are constantly driven to create opportunities for students to be Good at learning - Good at life. To achieve this, we have particular focuses each year. This year's focuses are:
- Educational achievement in English: Improve and monitor student learning outcomes, particularly in reading.
- Engagement and well-being: Sharpen our focus on student behaviour, well-being and general competencies.
- Culture and inclusion: Improve our capacity to provide successful inclusive practices for all students.
Chess Club
Chess Club began this Wednesday afternoon (7 February) and will continue each week. Club members meet in the staffroom immediately after school from 2:30pm - 3:30pm. Chess Club is open to all students (Prep to Year 6) and involves learning about chess, undertaking coaching from an accredited coach and participating in various inter-school and club tournaments across the year. Teachers join me in helping with this program. It really is enjoyable and the strategy and skills the children learn are impressive.
There is a small cost for the activity. Please email your questions or nominations to Mrs McMurtrie on mmcmu43@eq.edu.au. There is a maximum space for 40 players and these spaces will fill quickly. In fact there are just 9 places remaining.
