Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Highlights this week have been Year 6 day camps, Year 2 swimming and the Year 1 excursion to Jacobs Well Environmental Centre. Gosh it has been busy. A glance at the calendar will show you another huge week of learning and opportunities next week - and it is a short week as well.
Attendance this term
Term 1 has just four days remaining. Of the 48 school days, did your child miss any days? Attendance at school is so important - especially in the early years when school habits are formed. Minimising days away from the classroom is vital for learning and social development.
One or two days each week may not seem like much but look how it adds up.
If your child misses ... | That equals ... | Which is ... | And over 13 years of schooling that is ... | Which means the best your child might perform is ... |
1 day per fortnight | 20 days each year | Equal to 4 weeks of school each year | Nearly 1.5 years missed | Equal to finishing in Year 11 |
1 day per week | 40 days each year | Equal to 8 weeks of school each year | Over 2.5 years missed | Equal to finishing in Year 10 |
2 days per week | 80 days each year | Equal to 16 weeks of school or 1.5 terms each year | Over 5 years missed | Equal to finishing in Year 7 |

Parent-teacher interviews
Thank you to all of the families who have booked an interview with their child's teacher. I am sure that you will leave the conversations with a lot of very valuable information. Interviews are planned for next Monday and Tuesday afternoons. All interviews are being held in the school hall. You will have received a booking confirmation so please be early. There is a group waiting area and we will count down the change over times across the sessions.

Kokoda challenge
Last Saturday morning was a great training session at the Spit. We managed to cover between 10-12 km during the session, getting us much fitter for the Kokoda Schools Challenge in June. Thansk to the teachers, squad and super parents for a lovely morning.

Have a great weekend
