Principal's news

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues

The Resilience Project is big news at school.  Every student is involved in learning important virtues of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness.  Thank you to our P&C for sponsoring this work.

If you have had your child come home in the last week pointing at things or better yet you saying 'dis' and are not sure what this is all about have a look at this week The Resilience Project Parent information flyer for a link to the gratitude video.

Student achievements

Lyla competed in the 2024 Skate Queensland Artistic State Skate Championships over the 3 day long weekend and achieved some incredible results.

Results:

  • Girls Espoir Figures:  2nd place
  • Girls Espoir Solo Dance (comprises of 3 dances):  1st place - QLD State Champion

Lyla will travelling to New Zealand in June as part of the Australian team competing in the 2024 Oceania and Pacific Cup.  And in July, she will be travelling to Sydney as part of the Queensland team for the 2024 National Skate Artistic Championships.

These are tremendous achievements.  Well done Lyla!

Congratulations to Reggie on earning his Muay Thai brown arm band level last Friday.  To earn this level, he had to do a 20 minute warm up including stretching skipping, bag work and shadow boxing, followed by 20 x 3 minute sparring rounds with other members.  This was followed by 20 minutes of clinching then a 5 minute speech about what Muay Thai has taught him, how it has changed both him and his goals for the future.  Well done Reggie.

Road safety

I have received a number of emails and calls from community members across the past fortnight regarding road safety and our children.  The constant message is that children are on the road and not watching traffic.  Drivers are being alert and watching for children, but all of the odds are stacked against the children.

Please:

  • Discuss road safety with your children.
  • Establish your road safety expectations and insist that these be met every time.
  • Teach your children how to cross the road safely.
