Principal's news
Dear mums, dads and carers
Dress up day today was another huge success. Every year I marvel at the creativity and ingenuity of our families when it comes to the design of costumes. This year was even better than those previous. Congratulations! I was very impressed.

Our Book Fair is under way with many families investing in literature for their children. The sales finish on Wednesday so make sure that you do not miss out on this opportunity.

FRIDAY 25 WILL BE A MASSIVE DAY

Friday 25 October
Teaching children about personal safety
On Thursday and Friday of next week, classrooms will be focused on teaching personal safety and identifying body clues that indicate feelings of being unsafe. Students will also work to recognise their safe people from whom they can seek help. And in additon to this, Years 3–6 will also cover online safety.
Please see below for an overview of lessons:
Prep – Year 2
• Emotional Responses
• Body Clues
• Safety Helpers
Years 3-4
• Body Clues
• Safety Helpers
• Information that is safe and unsafe to share online
• How to recognise, react and report unsafe behaviours online
Years 5-6
Senior students will engage with a resource created by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation called the ‘That’s Suss – eSafety Challenge.’ The link to this resource is here should you wish to explore it at home.
IMPORTANT NOTE 1: There are three separate characters to follow in the challenge. We will only be exploring the story of ‘Millsy’. This resource involves a child chatting to a stranger as part of an online game. The child recognises that their body clues are indicating that they feel uncomfortable and seeks help from an older family member. The stranger is then reported online to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation.
IMPORTANT NOTE 2: Please note that a real image of this website is included in this resource and the word Sextortion is displayed on the screen for a moment. Students will not be explicitly taught about this kind of predatory behaviour, but they will be advised to never share images online (explicit or otherwise). I strongly recommend that families discuss this with their children as well.
PARENT GUIDE: Please click here for a copy of the parent guide.
YOU CAN OPT OUT for your child
We understand that the nature of this content may be triggering to some students. If you would not like your child to participate in these lessons, please email your child’s teacher by Wednesday.

Staff Appreciation Day
Friday 25 October
Principal's breakfast
Friday 25 October
We invite all students to the Principal's sausage sizzle breakfast on Friday morning (25 October). The sausage sizzle is free and is a great way to start the day and acknowledge the importance of both Day for Daniel and Staff Appreciation Day.
Sausages (in bread with choice of sauce) will be served from 7:45am until they are gone.
Please note that this should not be considered your child's breakfast for the day - just in case you arrive at school and the stocks are already finished.
We will also have vegetarian and halal options available.
Back gate re-opens
With the removal of the modular buildings in the school now completed, we can re-open the back gate for school access. Please check the opening times.
