Principal's news

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues

Gosh - What a week it has been!  I sincerely hope that your family & home has made it safely through the cyclone last weekend.  I think the aftermath was more challenging than the cyclone itself.  Our school & community recorded 540mm of rain across the weekend.  This is almost half of our annual rainfall - all in one weekend.

Getting back to a normal school routine has not been an easy task.  I am so very grateful to our staff for their dedication and commitment to prepare the school for re-opening.  It has been a massive task.  I am equally grateful to our families for their understanding and patience (& very kind feedback) as we went through our safety assessments prior to re-opening.  I also want to acknowledge the wonderful work of the P&C and school leaders as they continually checked in on staff members, before, during and after the cyclone.  Their care and concern for others is impressive.

3 weeks to go

The final 15 days of Term 1 will be filled with school activities including:

  • NAPLAN for Year 3&5
  • Parent-teacher interviews (All)
  • School photos (All)
  • Colour Explosion (All registered students)
  • Cross-Country (All)
  • Swimming lessons (Year 2)
  • Multiple excursions (Year 5&6)
  • Busking (Instrumental music groups)
  • Easter Hat concert (Prep & Year 1) and more.

There are just so many opportunities at our school.  Please make sure that you are aware of all that is happening.

School photos this week

All students need to wear their full and clean Blue Formal uniform on photos day.  Please see facebook for the photos roster.  Please make sure that your children are ready.

No before school activities in Week 8

With NAPLAN and other activities next week, there will be no before school activities on offer.  Afternoon activities will continue as normal.

Progress update

Our oval bank area is still taking shape and I am impressed.  It will be a wonderful upgrade to our school facility.  Thank you to our P&C for this addition.

Respectful driving

It is vital that driver behaviour in and around our school remains respectful and safe.  Frustrated drivers put our children at risk.  I really cannot stress this enough.  We all know that school traffic will be busy so please be patient and everyone will get home safely.  Threatening behaviour will be reported to the police.

During morning drop and afternoon collection, please do not use the Kiss n Go as a car park - just kiss then go.  If you need to come into the school, please use the designated car park.

P&C in overdrive this week

Our P&C has been in overdrive this past week as they prepare for the Colour Explosion (Colour Run) next week.  They extended the deadline by 7 days due to the cyclone and have been working with families to get as many kids ready to go.  Thank you to the teachers for their help too.  Our insurance deadline was this afternoon so things were very busy indeed.  Thank you to the P&C team.

Art by nature

The beauty in our night sky was on display this evening with the full blood moon.  Very spectacular.

We are participating in Earth Hour for schools again this year.  Our classrooms will shut down their electricity usage from 1:30pm on Friday 21 March.

We encourage you to do this at home on Saturday night.  Click here for more details.

Kind regards
