Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Today is the final day for Term 1. The term has been very busy - made more so by the interruption by Cyclone Alfred. The events this term have been many and my highlights include:
- Parent-teacher interviews
- NAPLAN testing
- School free dress day to support Rare Disease Day (Stripes)
- Cross-country carnival
- Colour Explosion
- Parents joining us in classrooms
- School photos

Regional chess tournament
Congratulations to the Kenneth, Braeden, Ryan, Lachlan, Aiden, Matias, Toby, Tai and Maksim on how well they represented our school at the regional chess tournament this week at St Stephens College. I am extremely grateful to Mrs Amies for leading our team to the event. She reports fantastic successes on the board and superb etiquette shown by our players, win, lose or draw.
Special congratulations to:
- Ryan
- Tai
- Aiden
- Toby and
- Lachlan
on earning place medallions at the event.

Reminder about e-scooter and e-bike rules
As e-scooters and e-bikes become more common on our roads, footpaths, and in parks, it’s important to be aware of the rules to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment. Specific regulations apply to personal mobility devices (PMD), which includes e-scooters, e-skateboards, and other small, electrically powered transport options. These regulations mean that the devices cannot be brought to school.
To ride a PMS, you must be at least 16 years old, or at least 12 years old and supervised by an adult while riding the device. Children under 12 years of age must not ride personal mobility devices. PMD are allowed on footpaths, shared paths, and bicycle paths but riders must always give way to pedestrians. Helmets are required if the device has an electric motor.
Queensland Police can and do issue fines for e-scooter and e-bike riders who break road rules, including speeding, using a phone while riding, and not wearing a helmet. For further information please visit PMD Road Rules.
School ANZAC Day service
We will be holding the school service for ANZAC Day at 8:45am on Thursday 24 April in our hall. Everyone is welcome to join us as we pay our respects to our veterans both fallen and returned.
Easter concert
Well done to our students and staff on a wonderful Easter concert this morning. Thank you also to the terrific audience. This was a lovely way to end the term.

Easter vacation
I would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy Easter vacation. I hope the weather is kind and you are able to enjoy some quality time with friends and family. I look forward to seeing everyone again when Term 2 starts on Tuesday 22 April.
Kind regards & happy Easter
