We have the best P&C

Our P&C Association has again been short-listed for the P&C Queensland annual awards.  The announcement of the 2025 winners will be made on June 6 at the annual conference.  Congratulations to Gemma, Heather and Corina on this wonderful recognition.

We want kids at school each day

But not before 7:45am

We have a small number of children arriving at school too early - some are dropped off before 7:00am.  This is not ok.  We provide supervision before school from 8:00am as a courtesy because we value the safety and care of our students.  

If you need help from our OSHC for before school care, please contact them.  They do an amazing job!

We celebrate our mums and grandmas

We had a great day at school today when Prep and Year 1 classes shared time with their mums and grandmas.  The highlight of the day is always the pamper station - especially the fingernail polish.  And one of our mums told me that she is wearing her new nails when she travels to Paris tonight.  Now that is special.

Uniform giveaway

When:  Monday 12 - Friday 16 May

Where:  Back entry to school office

Time:  Opens at 8:00am / Closes 3:00pm each day or until everything is re-homed.

We have quite a number of pre-loved, donated, or lost (& we cannot find an owner) uniforms.  We would like these items to go to a good home so we are providing them free to families of school. 

In the interests of fairness, we have the following rules.

• These items are free
• All items are of a reasonable quality - what you see is what you get
• These items are not intended for reselling but are intended to legitimately help our families.  
• There will be a limit of 1 item per type of uniform – eg 1 x shirt, 1 x pair shorts etc per student
• Not all items are available in all sizes
• Items are available on a first in basis
• They will be available all day from 8.00am – 3.00pm or until collected.  Please note that we cannot hold uniform items

       

    

Pasifikai Program - Seniors

Some of our Pasifika and Māori students in Years 5 and 6 have proudly joined a Queensland Health initiative focused on building healthy habits, staying active, and eating well. Throughout the term, we will explore the importance of including plenty of fruit and vegetables in our daily diet. This week, students have taken their learning a step further by planting seeds that will grow into a surprise superfood — ready to harvest and blend into a delicious, healthy smoothie in the weeks to come.

     

       

Kokoda training

Last Saturday the Kokoda Squad kept to the concrete paths instead of the rocky fire trails when we ran at the Gainsborough Parklands Parkrun event.  Students, coaches and parents pushed hard across the 5km course and recorded some huge improvements in their times.  Well done.  We have only a few weeks until the challenge event in Brisbane.

 

Tomorrow we take on Nerang State Forest again as we hit the hills and fill the lungs.

Traffic around the school

I receive regular emails from residents in our local community regarding parking and driving in the streets surrounding the school.  They are rightly very concerned that a growing number of motorists are often double-parking or blocking driveways. There have been many occasions where these residents have been unable to safely exit or enter their driveway due to cars obstructing access.  

        

Illegal parking or driving habits causes stress for residents and safety hazards for children.  There have been two separate incidents involving children (not at Coomera Rivers) being struck by cars in the streets surrounding our school.

We have received word from families that some confirmed cases of chicken pox have been made.  Click here for more information about time out from school.
