Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
The school grounds may be saturated from the constant rain, but that has not stopped us forging ahead with our activities at school. The inclement weather saw the cancellation of interschool sport this week and we also needed to close the oval and some of the field areas around the school. We will need a few sunny days to dry out before we can get back on our fields.
Oval seating project (Stage 1)
The oval project is coming along despite the weather conditions. I was lucky enough to do an inspection today (in my gumboots) and was very happy with how it is looking. I am sure that everyone will be just as impressed as I was.
Stage 2 includes a Ninja Warrior course for senior students. This will begin in the coming months as the wet weather has really caused some delays.

Pacifikai - Good Start
Thank you to Ms Findlay for organising the Pasifikai Good Start program for our Year 5 & 6 students. It is awesome to see them experiencing their culture at Coomera Rivers.

Kokoda challenge
Kokoda training last Saturday morning started in the dark. We were at the Nerang State Forest and spent our session on the hills. I am very impressed with the improvements in our fitness levels. Before school training sessions are also impressive. We will be cherry ripe for the Schools Kokoda Challenge on June 7 in Brisbane.

Under 8s Day
Thank you to everyone who supported our Under 8s Day today. The feeling in the junior precinct was amazing. I am very grateful to our amazing staff for their organisation of today.

myConnections in Year 3
myConnections is the name of our social-emotional development program at school. Our teachers, led by Mrs Gatti, Mrs Young and Mrs Crook, develop interesting lessons each day for our students to enjoy. Below is an example of a Year 3 program.

Better than 'How was your day?'
Thanks to Ms Halpin for sharing this with me. These are great questions to ask your children. Try some of these.
Chantelle and Alfred
Thank you to Chantelle (5Y) for sharing her writing with me today. Her text was about the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred when it landed on the Gold Coast earlier this year. Her vocabulary selection was excellent. It was a fantastic way to close the day.
Staff are learners too
Congratulations to Laura Broy who recently attended an award ceremony on completion of the Flagship Teacher Aide program. Laura has spent around 12 months honing her knowledge and confidence in the provision of evidence-based effective education support contributing to student success. Congratulations to her.
Kind regards
Vic
