Celebrations of Learning

Year 3

3M have been working well in groups during myConnections lessons and selecting three key facts about our brains from TED Ed Talk videos. Here are some that we discussed.

· Eating healthy makes our brain calm.

· Our brain produces serotonin and dopamine.

· Having the support of others is important following brain injury.

· Keep on trying our best even if we fail.

Year 4

Students in Year 4 have been learning to represent fractions, recognise equivalent fractions and make connections between decimals and fractions. They are learning to count and represent numbers on a number line and make connections between fraction and decimal notation.
Children have also been learning to convert an improper fraction into a mixed number. We learning that fractions are deeply embedded in daily tasks not just in classroom exercises, eg, shopping, sports, schedules, recipes, technology, budgeting, etc.

Year 5

This week, 5E have been hard at work crafting their very first persuasive writing pieces for the term, focusing on the topic of Waste Free Wednesday. Students used their research skills to gather facts and examples to support their arguments. They then applied persuasive techniques such as rhetorical questions, strong topic sentences, and emotive language to convince their readers why a Waste Free Wednesday should be introduced at our school. We are so proud of their creativity  and determination!

Year 6

This week, our Year 6 students visited the Brisbane Museum and SparkLab, where they had the opportunity to explore fascinating exhibits and interactive displays. At SparkLab, they deepened their understanding of energy through hands-on experiments and engaging demonstrations. They also explored the incredible artefacts at the museum, gaining insight into history, science, and culture. It was a fun and educational experience that sparked curiosity and inspired learning.
