Celebration of Learning
3H Loves Fractions!
It was a fun-filled and exciting week in 3H as students explored the wonderful world of fractions in a creative and meaningful way. To consolidate their understanding, students used the letters in their own names to investigate and represent fractions. They broke their names into equal parts, identified unit fractions, and calculated the number of vowels and consonants as fractions of the total letters.
But the learning didn’t stop there! Students brought their artistic flair into the classroom, turning their names into vibrant visual displays that highlighted both their mathematical thinking and literacy knowledge. This integrated approach not only helped reinforce key concepts but also gave students a chance to express themselves. 3H truly enjoyed the challenge, and the classroom buzzed with creativity and curiosity. Integrated learning in action — and a great reminder that maths can be both meaningful and fun!

Year 4
This term, our Year 4 students have been learning the art of persuasion! Their focus has been creating and presenting a persuasive spoken argument for an action that can be taken to protect our ecosystems. Students explored how to structure their ideas, use convincing evidence, and speak with confidence. As part of their criteria, students aimed to share clear ideas and opinions about a topic and support these with relevant and descriptive details from what they had learned or read.
They worked on organising their arguments with an introduction, problem, reasons, and a closing statement. Students were encouraged to use persuasive language and topic-specific vocabulary, include both opinion (subjective) and fact-based (objective) language, and try out rhetorical devices like repetition or rhetorical questions. They also practised speaking clearly and confidently, using tone, pace, pitch, and volume to suit their audience and purpose.
In addition, students focused on making eye contact and engaging with their listeners, listening respectfully to others, responding thoughtfully, and asking or answering questions to build on each other’s ideas. They then put their skills into action by presenting their own persuasive speeches to their classmates. We are so proud of the effort Year 4 students have shown in developing their persuasive writing and speaking skills!
Year 5
5V have been busy crafting their persuasive speeches, working hard to use strong arguments and convincing language. They’ve been making great use of the English learning wall to guide their writing, helping them to “bump up” their work with powerful word choices, persuasive devices, and well-structured paragraphs. Their dedication and creativity are really shining through in their speeches!

Year 6
This week, students engaged in learning about the Global Goals, examining their importance in shaping a better world. They also explored practical strategies to reduce their individual footprint, recognising how small, thoughtful actions can collectively contribute to a more sustainable future.
