Principal's News
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
It has been a huge week of opportunity and activity for students squeezed into the past 5 school days. While the Coomera Cup was played today (and missed the deadline for this issue), we also participated in the state Wakakirri Finals, hosted visitors from the Brisbane Broncos and New Zealand schools, held our Semester 2 chess tournament finals and completed the first of our attendance awards.
Wakakirri success
I was once again delighted and very proud of our Wakakirri troupe on their performance in the state finals on Tuesday night at the Logan Entertainment Centre. Their story theme of 'Mind over matter' was very creative and brilliantly portrayed. While the entire cast was superb, Lyra and Olivia led the performance with high energy and powerful presence on stage. Congratulations to them.
Thank you so very much to our amazing Arts team of teachers who made this event happen - twice. It was a true privilege to be invited to participate in the state level finals.
Protective behaviours lessons
In Term 4, all students will be involved in our annual protective behaviours and healthy relationships curriculum. All program content will be led by class teachers and the activities are age appropriate and linked to the Australian Curriculum.
Teachers will send home more detailed information in the coming weeks. We ask that you investigate the content and follow it up with conversations at home.
Story time popularity grows

We completed our chess club tournament this week and etiquette and skill on display was very impressive. Our winners were:

New Zealand Principals visited us
We were privileged this week to have three Principal's from New Zealand schools visit Coomera Rivers. They were very interested in our curriculum and the opportunities we offer students. They visited classrooms and left impressed with the learning culture within the rooms.
They left a gift for us of two books written by New Zealand authors. These will soon be available for borrowing from our iCentre.
Loose parts play has been very busy
Our loose parts play is all about creative and imaginative play and the students really enjoy it. Thank you to our P&C for supporting this playground opportunity.

Achievements galore
Congratulations to Toby this week on some superb achievements. He played in Under-10s with the Pimpama Pelicans, and his team reached the quarter finals, and although they didn’t win, the game went into 2 overtime rounds and they only lost by 1 point. Toby was awarded Best Defensive Player – 2025 Winter Season. He was one of the youngest and smallest on the court, but that didn’t hold him back — he gave it his all and really rose to the challenge.
And then on Wednesday afternoon, he won Junior Chess Champion – Semester 2, 2025. Well done Toby!

South Coast team call up
Congratulations to Aeris who has been called into the South Coast Rugby League team to play in Townsville next week. She has been working hard all year and this is a great reward for her efforts. Good luck Aeris.
Teachers shine on the field
Our staff competed in the 'School of Origin' touch football competition this afternoon against the other schools in our area. And we did very well indeed, making the Grand Final.
Just like the students, we played for fun - fitness - friendship, but quite a few of us will need some minor medical intervention across the next few days. For the record, we were undefeated in all of the fixture rounds and were beaten 1-0 in the final by Gainsborough. Congratulations to their team and well done us!
Reminders for parents
Let us help the children work it out: Children will often find themselves in conflict with another child at school. Most of the time, these are sorted quickly and effectively, but sometimes they can drag on. If you are concerned for your child, please contact the school and we will guarantee that we will investigate and support the students towards a resolution.
Whatever happens, please never approach other children in the playground - it doesn't help at all.
Waiting areas before school: Please make sure that you and your children wait for the school bell (8:20am) in the correct waiting zone. This helps us maintain safety for everyone.
| Area | Waiting area for |
| Café shed | Prep and Year 1 (plus older supervising siblings) |
| Junior shed | Year 2 students |
| Middle shed | Year 3 students |
| Arts covered area | Year 4 students |
| Senior shed | Years 5&6 students |
Have a lovely weekend
Vic
