Celebrations of Learning

Year 3

This term, Grade 3 students have been busy exploring 3D shapes. Through engaging, hands-on activities, they investigated the properties of three-dimensional objects. Using a variety of materials, students constructed their own models and described their key features. Once completed, they identified and counted the faces, edges, and vertices, demonstrating a strong understanding of the shapes they created.

Year 4

As our term comes to an end, Year 4 have enjoyed some exciting and meaningful lessons to wrap up our learning. We were very fortunate to meet one of the Broncos players, who spoke to us about resilience and the importance of showing gratitude, empathy, and kindness towards others. We also celebrated R U OK? Day, with each student creating a hand artwork to show kindness and highlight the impact one conversation can have on someone's life.

This term, we began reading our new novel, Rowan of Rin. We’re all excited to follow Rowan’s adventure and can’t wait to find out if he will make it up the mountain alive!

Finally, we’ve been exploring different perspectives through activities like the bubble challenge, which helped us better understand and feel empathy for others. We’ve learned how to ACT with empathy:

Acknowledge people

Be a Companion

Let others Talk and make sure we listen

5Y Persuasive Speaking

This term, 5Y has been practising their persuasive speaking skills as part of their Speaking and Listening assessment. Students developed their own creative ideas for new additions to CRSS, carefully considered teacher and peer feedback, and refined their presentation techniques. Their speeches were engaging, convincing, and showcased just how hard they’ve worked. Well done, 5Y!

Year 6 Reading – The Forests of Silence (Deltora Quest)

This past couple of weeks, Year 6 has been adventuring through Emily Rodda’s The Forests of Silence from the Deltora Quest series. We’re building strong comprehension by using vocabulary knowledge, identifying main ideas and themes (especially courage and friendship), analysing characters’ actions, settings and key events, and noticing how chapter structure creates suspense. We’re also exploring language features—imagery, similes and personification—to see how authors help readers visualise and stay engaged.
Touch Footy
Our Touch Footy teams have their competitions coming up next term, and we were lucky to enough to have Tristan from Qld Touch Football come down and run a training session with a focus on defence. It was unreal to watch Tristan do his thing and the students (and coaches) were able to take a lot away from the session. Thanks T!
