Principal's News

Our school is such a busy place.  Every student can be involved in some truly amazing opportunities to learn and grow.  You will see news stories throughout this issue of how we provide opportunities for students in academia, music, sporting, leadership and our signature principle - the significance of the digital world around us.  Our teachers are extremely clever with how they continue to do this.

Our P&C is busy with improving our school

My personal opinion is that all classrooms in every school should be air-conditioned at the cost of the government - especially considering that I am yet to enter a government office that is not air-conditioned.  But under normal circumstances, schools in this part of Queensland are not included and the community needs to generate the funding should they want it.  So we are.  This is the five year goal of our school - raise funds to install 54 industrial spec air-conditioners.  Each unit costs between $4500 to $5500.  After Year 1 of this project, we have 16 classrooms fitted - thanks to the support of our school community.  Our goal is not finished so we move into year 2 of the plan.

Year 2 is once again a busy one.  The colour run is the big fundraiser for the P&C in Semester 1 and the community fair is the big event for Semester 2.  In between, the P&C conduct activities for our community that also generate some income for the Association.  These include Mothers Day stalls, sports day lunches, spare change for cooling and more.  We have one goal - air-condition the classrooms - and operating profits go towards this.

So the colour run is about to start.  We would love for everyone to register and raise the $10 entry level sponsorship.  This provides entry to the colour run, a small prize and some BIG smiles.  If you raise higher amounts through sponsorship, the prize selection increases as well.

We ask our families to support the fundraising ventures of the P&C when they are able.

School photos

The 2019 school photos are planned for next week.  It takes three days to complete the photos.  All students will need to wear their formal blue uniform ON uniform day regardless of their usual routine.  Please ensure that shoes are cleaned and children are well presented for their class and individual photos.  The schedule is shown in the newsletter.
