Principal's news

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues

Thank you to our families for complying with the restricted access to the school.  Your assistance with this makes our school a safer place at the moment.  It won't always be like this and I look forward to the day when we are fully accessible again.  Thank you also to the parents using the Kiss n Go.

How can we improve further?

  1. Please stand 1.5m away from other adults while you are in and around the school.  I recognise that it easy to forget this but please try to practice this.
  2. Never wait along a pathway but use the cafe shed instead.

The 2:00pm departure group arrives at the gate just before 2:00pm and everyone has been collected by 2:03pm.  It is very smooth thanks to other parents staying out of the Kiss n go zone until after 2:15pm.  If you would like to make the most of the 2:00pm early departure opportunity, please email Mrs Jenkins with your child's details.  It does not need to be a daily routine but the same routine each week will help us.

Uniforms for winter

Winter has started and the mornings are crisp.  The wind from the south-west is cold and dry and it is important that children are warm at school.  Please make sure that you have your children in the correct jumper (for the blues uniform) and tracksuit (for the sports uniform) each day.  If there is an issue around your child being able to wear the school uniform on any day, please write a note or email for your child's teacher.

Starting next week, uniform infringements will be issued to our senior students who do not comply with the uniform code. These infringements will obviously not affect those students whose parents have contacted the school with a reasonable explanation.

Attendance

Please make sure that your child is attending school each day.  If they are away, please make sure that you contact the school office.

School is a safe place

Remember that school is a safe place for students and staff and the few visitors we have each day.  We have:

  1. Daytime cleaning of bathrooms (cleaned each hour or so)
  2. Daytime cleaning of high touch points like door handles ands switches (cleaned each hour or so)
  3. Adventure playgrounds are cleaned daily
  4. Playtime equipment is cleaned regularly
  5. Everyone (students and staff) washes their hands regularly
  6. Sanitiser is available and used in all rooms.
  7. Restricted access to the school by parents and visitors.

National Consistent Collection of Data

Semester 1 report cards

Semester 1 report cards will be sent home to families later than they normally would.  Parents can expect to receive their child's report card in Week 3 of Term 3.  Because we have had significant interruptions to the learning programs this term, reporting has also been affected.  I will provide more information about what the reports will look like, closer to the release date.

Road safety

I would like all parents to discuss road safety expectations with their children this weekend.  It has been reported to me that some children are not crossing safely at the IGA lights.  This is a busy intersection and drivers often accelerate to beat the change of lights.

Assisting local businesses

Coronavirus has been devasting for workers and businesses alike.  To help just a little each week, our staff is ordering lunch from a local business.  If you own, manage or work for a local business and would like us to consider your menu, please email Mrs McMurtrie.  We love shopping locally.

Thank you this week to Nahm Thai at Westfield for the delicious lunch this week.
