Principal's news
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
With only ten school days remaining for the term, please make sure that, if your child is well, that they attend school on time, every day, ready to learn.
Report Cards
We will be preparing report cards across the next few weeks but they will not be sent home until Week 3 of Term 3. This process has been suggested by the department as schools try to reconstruct their systems following the five week home program period. The reports will be slightly different in the amount of information that they contain but as always, if there is anything you wish to query, please contact your child's teacher. At this stage there is no option for face to face parent meetings.
Cash payments at school are no more
Our office is now going cashless as a result of COVID 19 and restrictions. The payment window will still operate but will only be managing EFTPOS and credit transactions.
Electronic banking is still available but the BEST option is called BPoint. This is available through the Q Parents app. The BPoint link is also located on the bottom of each invoice.
School website
We are currently upgrading our website. This will take another couple of weeks but once it is ready I will let everyone know.
Good at Learning - Good at Life
Thinking globally
We are citizens of the world and we need to connect with others so that we create a deeper and stronger understanding of others and develop an empathy for them. Many of our classes and students have been making some amazing connections.
Some examples of work happening in and around our school include our students:
- Designing a questionnaire to interview family members around the impact of COVID on their life and recording this using technology.
- Interviewing a parent in Wales to explore how the home learning journey has been from her perspective.
- Interviewing teachers and students from 30 countries around the world to gain an understanding of their perspective and compiling the information in a book to be published.
- The creation of a personalised learning program for students so they can participate in activities which target their interests.
- Designing surveys to ask local businesses and workers how COVID has impacted on their company. From this, students will design a solution which could support them more in moving forward.
Acting locally
Well done to Chloe, Jorja and Anna from 6K. The girls have been giving up their lunch breaks across the past week to work on creating character stick puppets for next term's Year 1 English unit. Retelling familiar stories is going to be extra fun for our Year 1 students, knowing their Year 6 buddies made the puppets especially for them.
Kind regards
Vic Graham
