Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues

Term 2 is under way and we have a busy 43 school days remaining until the winter break.  The best way to keep up with all things to do with school is to regularly check the term calendar in the newsletter.  It is updated every issue.

Week 2 events will see us focused on ANZAC Day services on Monday.  The two services will be:

• Junior school service (Prep to Year 2) - 8:45am
• School service (Years 3-6) - 1:15pm

Families are very welcome to join either of the services.  We are not intending to live stream the services this year.

Free dress day (Special event)

We will be holding a special free dress day NEXT FRIDAY (28 April) to support one of our students and her family.  Last Wednesday morning, fire destroyed most of Ella's home.  Luckily, all of the family and pets are safe and well.  I have spoken with the family and have been impressed with how courageous and positive they remain.  They did not have insurance and what the fire didn't consume, the smoke destroyed anyway.  

I met with the student council leaders today and they would like to ask the members of our school community who are able, to try to support Ella to get a new bedroom by donating at the free dress day.  Every gold coin donation will be gratefully received.  The student leaders were working on the free dress theme today, and I will send this information home early next week.

The cause of the fire is thought to have been a device being recharged and the battery exploded.  

Winter is coming

This line, made famous by Game of Thrones, is very true.  It will soon become cool and children will need their winter jumpers and tracksuits.

What to wear:

• School jumper with the formal uniform
• School tracksuit top (&/or bottom) with the sports uniform

Please:

• Note that the pullover and jacket is not interchangeable.  
• Ensure that your children wear the school uniform jumpers
• Layer up underneath on the cold days
• Do not wait for the first cool day to organise these uniform items as stocks will probably be sold.
• Remember that all of the classrooms are air-conditioned (thank you P&C) so everyone will be warm inside.

Coomera Rivers State School students will participate in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing Survey between April 26th - May 12th. 

This survey asks questions about many aspects of students' wellbeing, engagement and experience at school. Data from the survey will help the school to monitor; school culture, school engagement and student wellbeing.

If you do not wish for your child to participate or would like more information, please email your child's classroom teacher prior to April 26th

Get your Sport House colours ready!

With our Sport Fun Day event scheduled for late this Term, now is time to start thinking about those house colour accessories!

Our sports house shirts are made of a breathable fabric, have a collar for sun protection, school logo and, most importantly, your house colour and name!

Orders of these shirts are open now on School24 and Stock is limited! 

We have included below the size chart to assist with sizing for your orders. This chart is also accessible from the School24 site when ordering.
