Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
I am extremely proud of the achievements of our children and staff across this past week.
Public Speaking competition
Year 4 students competed at the AB Paterson College public speaking competition on Thursday evening. Baylin, Ashtiva, Lacey, Sienna and Taylor all acquitted themselves very well as they presented their speeches to a room filled with strangers. We have been working hard across the past 6 weeks preparing for the event and I would like to thank the mums and dads who have supported them at home and Mrs Gillard, Mrs Ellison and Ms McLean who have been terrific at school as well.
The Year 5&6 competition begins in Term 4.

Wakakirri
Our Wakakirri troupe recently competed at the Logan Entertainment Centre in the regional concert and earned an invitation to the state awards concert. They performed tonight with energy and enthusiasm and were exteremly entertaining. Coomera Rivers was one of the two schools who were selected for nomination to the National competition. This is an outstanding achievement for our troupe.
Part of the performance is a post presentation interview with the compere. Congratulations to Connor, Frankie and Tamara who spoke with such maturity - no scripts or palm cards. I would also like to thank Liliana for performing the Acknowledgement of Country for the evening as well. Coomera Rivers shone brightly in so many ways.
Thank you to the teaching team for their development of the storyline, the dance, music, choreography, costume design and set production. The view from the audience was spectacular. Their loading of the props into the ute was also impressive.
My sincere appreciation also extends to the families who supported our performers as well. There have been many rehearsals at school and practices at home over the past few months.

Prep's first excursion
Our Prep classes enjoyed a day at Sea World this week as part of their 'Under the Sea' unit. It was a very exciting day and nearly all of them had a sleep in the bus on the way back to school.
Thank you to the Prep staff and volunteers who made the day memorable for our young learners.

Week 10 is busy
We have a multitude of activities planned next week. These include:
- The Coomera Cup on Tuesday - Rugby, Touch, Netball & Basketball for our inter-school sports teams
- The attendance breakfast on Wednesday morning. The tickets will be sent home to students who hit the attendance percentage this term (90%) on Monday afternoon. Please bring them on Wednesday morning to redeem a FREE delicious sausage sizzle.
- The Sudsy Challenge starts on Wednesday morning for many staff as we support OrangeSky charity for the homeless on thje Gold Coast.
- Year 2 students heads off on excursion to Currumbin.
Have a lovely weekend.
