Dear mums, dads and carers
Free school uniforms
From this Monday morning (19 February) there will be tables at the back entrance to the office with 2nd hand / lost uniforms (where we have been unable to identify an owner). We would like these items to go to a good home.
Rules:
- These items are free.
- All items are of a reasonable quality - what you see is what you get.
- These items are not intended for resale but are intended to legitimately help our families.
- There will be a limit of 1 item per type of uniform – eg 1 x shirt, 1 x pair shorts etc per student.
- Not all items are available in all sizes.
- Items are available on a first in basis.
- They will be available all day from 8.00am – 3.00pm or until collected.
- We cannot hold uniform items.
Hats at school
Every student needs a school hat to wear during the day. Please write your child's name on their hat multiple times. The school does not currently have any spare hats to loan.
Please note that school hats are required for all excursions. Please do not wait until the day of the excursion to organise a hat.
Parking
Please remember to park safely and legally around the school. The council parking officers will be monitoring our habits and I am told, will fine motorists who do the wrong thing.
Kind regards
Vic
Congratulations to these senior school students on a wonderful few weeks.

Celebrating Year 3
Mathematics Fun in 3J: Students have been working hard to extend their knowledge of place value in numbers. We have been exploring numbers up to and beyond 10 000. We have really enjoyed using hands on materials, games, whiteboards, puzzles and our iPads to develop our understanding. We have also been building our group work and collaboration skills at the same time.
Celebrating Year 4
In Science, year four students are developing an understanding of forces within games. This week, students tested a number of games and made predictions from testable questions. Students then enjoyed playing these games and identifying the push and pull forces used to make the game function. In future weeks, students will begin designing their own arcade game demonstrating their understanding of forces.

Celebrating Year 5
In Maths, 5P students got to conduct individual surveys about a range of topics such as favourite colours, cars, sports teams and so much more! The data collected from the surveys was then presented in a graph.

Celebrating Year 6
In Science, 5/6B students enjoyed recreating an earthquake as part of their learning.

Oztag Champions
Congratulations to Shayla, Zara and Nia who represented the Coomera Chiefs at the Qld Oztag State Cup at the Sunshine Coast. Their team won the tournament and Shayla was named MVP our of 250 girls playing. Well done girls!

With Mrs Duffy, Ms Findlay and Mr Burrows
Broadwater Netball
Congratulations to Shayla who has been selected in the Broadwater 11s Girls Netball side. She won't take on the other 3 districts in early March.
Good luck to Honor, Hayden, Harlow and Kyla who will trial for the 12 years Broadwater Netball side on Friday afternoon.
Broadwater Basketball
Good luck to Lucan, Ryley, Jasper and Maioha who will trial for the Broadwater Basketball team next week.
Broadwater touch trials
On Tuesday, at 1st play, we will conduct our school trials to select representatives to attend the Broadwater touch trials in Week 6.
With Mrs Ellison
Auditions are next week. Students have had the opportunity to sign up for auditions and these have been scheduled in during school hours in Week 5. If students are successful with their audition, rehearsal days will be Wednesdays after school from 2.30pm - 4.00pm commencing 28 February. Please note that due to limited cast roles and numbers, not all students will be offered a role in the musical. No preparation is required for auditions, students simply need to turn up ready to sing, dance and act! All rehearsal groups and times have been pinned on the noticeboard outside the music room - good luck to everyone who is trying out. If you have any queries or concerns please send them to Mrs Ellison.
The Environmental Warriors had their first meeting this week and were already assigned their first environmental task. At Coomera Rivers we participate in paper recycling. The students were allocated a buddy class from the lower school to help empty paper bins and educate about paper recycling.
of the P&C Association
The next general meeting of the P&C Association will be held on Tuesday 18 February at 7:00pm, via TEAMS.
Please email the P&C at pandc@coomerariversss.eq.edu.au for a TEAMS link.
P&C meetings are a great way to keep up to date with what is going on around our school. The meetings also provide our families with an opportunity to have input and feedback on matters relating to school and community life. Meetings are open to all families and we encourage families to attend our on-line meeting and contribute to your school community which forms a vital part of your children's educational journey.
We look forward to seeing you on-line at our next meeting.
