Attendance awards (Week 10)
Our school always acknowledges the achievements of our students. For the past few years we have been focussed on excellent levels of attendance. This term's goal was 92%.
In Week 10, we are distributing free icy-poles to students who have met or exceeded this level. Tickets will be distributed in Week 9. If you feel your child has missed out, please contact their teacher and we will investigate further. With so many students being included, it is simple to accidentally miss someone.
Have a great weekend
Vic

Celebrating Year 3
An inspirational quote about Literacy: “Reading is like breathing in and writing is like breathing out.” So, with that quote children in 3L have been BREATHING in and out figuratively all term and they are getting better at it.
Reading in groups can sometimes be hilarious! Especially when you come across the word ‘doodle’ and the boys crack up laughing, the girls and I look confused because I am thinking scribbling absent-mindedly, but then realization dawns and we all laugh together.
For our writing we have looked at traditional stories such as The Three Little Pigs and changed them into The Three Little Wombats and the Hungry Hyena (across continental story) or, Goldilocks and the Three bears changed into Amelia and the Hungry sloths. 3L have used their imagination to write fabulous stories.
Celebrating Year 4
We have been having lots of fun in Science exploring forces looking at contact and non-contact forces to make objects move. We have also been playing mini games involving forces and are designing our very own game to create and set up a classroom arcade.

Celebrating Year 5 - Amazing Race!
The Year 5 students embarked on an exhilarating adventure as they tackled The Amazing Race challenge around the school. Armed with an alphanumeric map of Coomera Rivers State School, they navigated using clues and mapping skills to complete tasks at checkpoints. The students worked as a team and through collaboration, math knowledge and unpredictable weather, they demonstrated they could conquer this fun challenge.

Celebrating Year 6
Year 6 students are leading the way by undertaking leadership duties around the school, supporting staff, and students during play breaks. They are identified by their yellow vest with the words on the back, 'I am here to help' and wearing a lanyard (10 signatures from staff on duty earns them a leadership certificate and also added to their report card).

Year 5 & 6 Special Guest
Following the recent Assembly, Year 5 & 6 students welcomed Mr Cameron Caldwell, MP Member for Fadden, who spoke with the students about student leadership, with and without a badge. Mr Caldwell then spoke with our Year 6 badged leaders.
The morning was a great demonstration of student, staff and community leadership, working together.

Autumn - Vacation Care Program
The below Program outlines the steps to book your child in, as well as including all the information you need to know about Vacation Care at Coomera Rivers OSHC. We suggest keeping Page 1 on your fridge so you know what needs to be packed and worn for each day.
How to Book
Please follow the steps in the attached program to book your child in to OSHC. You will require an OWNA login to complete this booking.
Bookings will close once all available places are exhausted, so please make sure to complete your online booking form ASAP to avoid missing out. Vacation Care bookings will be released to all Coomera Rivers SS families next week.
All required information must be completed in full to confirm your booking. The online booking form is a Complying Written Agreement between you and the service, allowing your CCS benefits to be paid towards our fees. Bookings are not confirmed until a confirmation email is issued by the service, and all steps including Excursion Permissions must be completed to secure your child’s place. Please ensure you complete all sections and return to us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Once confirmed by the service, all bookings are final, and as such all fees associated with the bookings, should the child not attend care due to illness or for any other reason, shall be required to be paid in full, unless 14 days' notice is provided. CCS will apply in accordance with allowable and approved absence provisions.
Please note there are limited spaces in our Vacation Care program and bookings are processed in the order they are received, so please return your completed booking form as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Ever wondered what it might be like to volunteer to help in our Café? This video shows just some of the jobs our valued volunteers assist with.
No experience necessary and it is a great way to meet other families of school. We would be VERY grateful for your help.

Servicing your bike will help keep it in pristine condition to maintain performance and ensure that you’re riding a bike that is safe. Often people have invested a lot of money in their bike and don’t worry much about servicing, but just like your car you need to service your bike regularly. Servicing your bike will increase the life of your parts and give you a much better riding experience.
99 Bikes, proud sponsors of our Term 1 River Reward program, have not only been kind enough to donate a bike that one lucky Year 4 – 6 students will win this Term, they have also put together an exclusive package of offers for our families to help with the safety and servicing of your bikes.
Please see the attached flyer for full details.
We thank 99 Bikes for the support of our school and community.
