Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
What an amazing week this has been. Our Arts Department showcased the very young talent we have at Coomera Rivers with their end of term concert this week. It was sensational. While my favourite was the dance troupe, I though every act was really entertaining. I am so proud of our students and their teachers.
Story time this week
Term 3 calendar of events
This newsletter shows the initial events for Term 3. Please make a note of the events and dates. The details change on occasion as circumstances determine so please check the calendar and newsletter often.
Hollywood disco
Thank you to our P&C and staff for hosting a wonderful disco tonight. It was a lot of fun. It was also the first one we have held in the hall, and it was very enjoyable indeed.

Sports Fun Days are next week
Make sure that you are ready for the sports fun days next week.
- Tuesday (Senior Sports Day) (Years 3-6)
- Wednesday (Junior Sports Day) (Prep to Year 2)
The carnivals are focused on participation and fun. We want every child to participate and earn points for their house. It is all about 'team' next week.
Please wear your house colours on your sports day. Parents are encouraged to wear theirs too. Please contact your child's teacher if you need house information.
Report cards
Report cards for Semester 1 will be emailed home next Thursday. Please check your junk boxes as some systems will detect the bulk mail out as spam.
I encourage all parents to not only focus on academic achievement, but to consider effort and additional involvement in extra-curricular activities at school.
2024 Anti-bullying Week of Action
We will be recognising the National week of action against bullying (12-16 August) again this year. While it is great to unite in our efforts to put an end to bullying across the week, it is always important to remember that we need to be watchful of our children each day, in case they still experience it.
Bullying does happen at school - despite our best intentions and efforts. In fact, it can happen anywhere. If you feel that your child has been subjected to bullying, please contact us. We investigate every report.
Schools use the Bullying No Way website for consistent definitions and resources. Please refer to the definition closely as a lot of that parents may feel a behaviour is bullying, but it can turn out to be conflict. This is still not ok, but it is managed differently.
The resource section of the website is excellent for families and schools in their efforts to help children.
Kind regards
Vic

Celebrating Prep
Our prep students have been practising their skills to get ready for their first every sports fun day. We hope to see lots of parents come along for what is sure to be a fun day. Prep S honed their mindfulness skills by tuning in to the sounds around them outside. And as always they have been busy praticising their sound knowledge in many ways.

Celebrating Year 1
Year 1 students been puttin their knowledge of insects, which they have been learning about over the term, their habiats and where they live and what they need to survive - to create minibeast colleges.

Celebrating Year 2
In 2H we have read the book Bower Bird Blues by Aura Parker. We listened to the story and discussed and talked about our understanding of the book. We went on an adventure outside and collect things of a certain colour to make a PicCollage just like the Bower bird collected blue items in the story. Then we read the book on another day and talked about the Bower bird need for connection and community. We decided to as teams to build a bower just like in Bower bird. We collected things from nature and tried to construct bowers and we add some blue items to the bowers. The construction was a little more difficult than we anticipated but we still had lots fun. In the end we had a lot more respect for the talent of bower birds and their expertise building bowers with their beck.
