Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
This week's Paris Olympics competition saw the incredible success of the Australian teams and athletes continue - in the pool, on the court, the field, the track or the road. And the team unity and bond of the women's water polo team was a standout for me, particualrly their celebration in the semi-final against USA.

Celebrating Prep
No Bullying Day
“It’s hard to fix a wrinkled heart”. In preparation for No Bullying Day, Prep S did an activity to help us understand how bullying makes us feel. We wrote our name on a heart and when Ms Shepherd said a mean thing, students had to scrunch up our hearts, when she said something kind, we tried to fix our broken heart. The kids could see that even after kind words our hearts will always be a little ‘wrinkled’.
Ms Waide Visit
Mrs Kane and Ms Jones were so proud of Prep S’s Turtle writing, we decided to ask Ms Waide to visit. She loved reading all the interesting facts about turtles.

Celebrating Year 1
1/2B have been busy working on developing their math skills through hands on learning. We have begun exploring a See, Plan, Do, Check chart to answer addition and subtraction word problems and learning different strategies to solve the math problems. We further participated in Math rotations incorporating tactile and play approaches to our learning of word problems, multiplication groups, location and place value. Great effort 1/ 2 B!
Celebrating Year 2
2O this week have been very busy with number, working out number problems using the thinking board and applying strategies such a using object to solve the problem given to us. We also played games like bingo to practice fact number recognition.

in some extra-curricular opportunities at school
Coomera Rivers is committed to offering our students as many additional opportunities as we can. Below is a list of the activities on offer this term. Some are privately provided opportunities held at school but most are run by our school staff. Most activities are free or very reasonably priced. Please contact the co-ordinator for more information if you are interested in your child participating.
As you will see, the older the students are, the greater the number of opportunities that exist for them. This is due to department regulations around competitive sport and other aspects of school.
Thank you sincerely to the staff teams who provide their time and expertise for the students. I am very grateful for their generous contributions.

Orders now open
Each year we offer our graduating class the chance to purchase a signature bear as a memento of their time at Coomera Rivers.
The signature bears are available to order now via School24 with orders closing on Friday 23 August at 4pm. If you do require a deadline extension you MUST email the P&C prior to the deadline to request one.
Once the deadline has past, orders will then be arranged and personalised (with class of 2024 school logo) and will arrive in time to be distributed to class late in Term 4 with students offered the opportunity to have their bears signed by their peers and teachers before bringing them home.
If you require more information please email the P&C.
We would like to offer our Prep students the chance to create their own little masterpiece as a souvenir of their first year at school.
While saved artwork on paper can tear and fade, children’s art that is turned into any one of the products listed on the below flyer can be enjoyed for many years. And they make a great Christmas gift!
