We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we walk, live and learn, the Bullongin & Kombumerri people. We pay our deepest respects to Elders resting in the Dreamtime and to the Elders of today, who will continue to care, protect and nurture the Country that we gather on to learn and connect. We feel both privileged, and grateful to now be sharing and caring for the country on which we are living and learning.
Events, dates and times may change. Please check the school calendar regularly to keep updated.

The Annual General Meeting of the Coomera Rivers State School P&C will be held on Monday 28 April at 5.30pm in the Corporate Services building of Coomera Rivers State School.
A general meeting of the association will be held directly after the AGM.
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Another fantastic week of opportunities at school this week. Headlining the week has been our 2025 cross-country carnival, with Year 6 day camp activities and Year 5 surf safety excursions close behind.
Cross-country carnival
Congratulations to everyone involved in the carnival on Tuesday. The racing was competitive and the house and team spirit was alive and pumping. Thank you to the staff, led by Ms Findlay & Mr Burrows, for creating this opportunity for our children, to Mr Barnes for preparing the oval, the set up and pull down teams and to the P&C for their continued support across the day. A special thank you to all of the families who came along to cheer. It was lovely to have you join us.
Runners warm up before their event
Traffic around the school
Traffic at drop off and pick up will always be very busy. I ask that all motorists remain courteous to others and respectful of neighbouring properties.
Please remember:
- Solid yellow lines: These lines indicate that parking or stopping in these areas is prohibited. Stopping or parking on the yellow lines can create traffic congestion and pose a hazard to pedestrians, particularly our children.
- Parking across or near driveways: Sometimes drivers may park too close to residential driveways, which can block access. Please leave a minimum of 1 metre from any driveway when parking near the school entrance.
Traffic safety is important. We must all get it right. A car does not need to be moving to cause a problem for children. Patience and respect will always help you make the best motoring decisions.
Start to think cooler
I usually refer to ANZAC Day as the point in the year when the season begins to change and the cooler weather is usually close by. Your children will need their winter uniform additions - pullover for the blues uniform and tracksuit for the sports uniform.
Please order well before the first chilly day as stocks will be limited. Remember to layer up under the uniform on colder days - keeping in mind that all classrooms are air-conditioned and will be lovely and warm.
Works update

Keep up the reading routines at home
Kind regards
Vic
Cross Country
Well done to our students who competed in our Cross Country carnival on Tuesday. It was great to see everyone in their house colours and showing excellent house spirit. I would like to give a shout out to the House Leaders, who were excellent role models on the day, and thank you to all our staff and all our parents who came to support on the day.

Celebrations of Learning
Prep
In Prep F we have been practising our sounds using the Decodable Readers Australia website. The students really enjoy being able to visually see the sound and hear it when they touch the screen before practising writing it down. Each week we do a new revision lesson from the website. We have also started blending sounds to make simple CVC words and have been using our Fred Talk skills to match a word to a picture.
Year 1
For Science in 1B we have been exploring the forces of push and pull. This week we explored these forces through investigations with gentle and hard movement.
* We used marbles and paint to gently push and pull the marbles around the box! Our marble art looks very cool!
* We made pop-up puppets incorporating our favourite character from the very cranky bear to push and pull it in the "cave".
* We used our breath to push pom poms across the table, then recorded where our pom poms landed.
* We made magnet ghosts and pulled the paper clips (ghost) up with a gentle pull to make them float.
We had so much fun learning and understanding the amount of force needed to make our objects move.

Year 2
As we are getting ready to wrap up another exciting term, we reflect on the many events that have brought our school community together. From the vibrant Colour Run to the exhilarating Cross. 2H has been full of energy and enthusiasm for these school events. Our students have shown incredible spirit, teamwork, and perseverance, whether they were running, competing, or cheering each other on.
Big shout out to these amazing students for their dedication this week!
