We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we walk, live and learn, the Bullongin & Kombumerri people. We pay our deepest respects to Elders resting in the Dreamtime and to the Elders of today, who will continue to care, protect and nurture the Country that we gather on to learn and connect. We feel both privileged, and grateful to now be sharing and caring for the country on which we are living and learning.

Spotlight on Our Sponsors
This week, we’re proud to shine a light on two incredible businesses supporting our 2025 Community Fair:
Meet our Sponsor - Cameron Caldwell - Member for Fadden - Fair Partner.
We are proud to announce Cameron Caldwell MP as a Fair Partner!
We are delighted to share that Cameron Caldwell, Federal Member for Fadden, has joined us as one of our Fair Partners.
Cameron’s long-standing service to our community has played a significant role in the life of our school since its opening in 2011. As our former local Councillor, Cameron was also an active member of our School Council for many years. Since his election as the Federal Member for Fadden, he has continued to show unwavering support for our school and the broader community.
We are truly honoured to have him on board as a Fair Partner. Mr Caldwell’s team will be attending the Fair—please stop by their stall, say hello, and take a moment to thank them for their continued support!
Meet our Sponsor - Michael Crandon - Fair Partner
We are proud to welcome Michael Crandon MP as a Fair Partner!
Michael Crandon, Member for Coomera, continues his long-standing support of our school community by joining us as a Fair Partner for this year’s Community Fair.
Michael has served as the Member for Coomera since our school first opened in 2011, and we are sincerely grateful for his ongoing support over the years. Most recently, Mr Crandon was instrumental in helping our school secure funding for two exciting projects – the oval seating upgrade and the upcoming Ninja Warrior playground.
We thank Mr Crandon for his continued commitment to our students, staff and families, and are proud to have him supporting this special community event.
Meet our Sponsor - Cr Donna Gates - Fair Partner
We are proud to announce Cr Donna Gates as a Fair Partner!

We are incredibly proud to have Cr Gates supporting our Community Fair and thank her for her continued partnership.
Meet Our Sponsor - Happy Days Brewery - Fair Partner
We’re thrilled to welcome one of our Fair sponsors — Happy Days Brewery!
Founded by two great mates, Johnnie and Jason from Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast, Happy Days Brewery was born from a simple idea:
To share happiness with the world.
Their mission? To craft the best-tasting seltzers on the planet — drinks that not only taste great, but look amazing and help you celebrate life’s happy moments.
We can’t wait to welcome the Happy Days team to our Fair, where they’ll be serving up good vibes and great flavours at the Happy Days Bar.

But their contribution extends beyond day-to-day operations — the strong partnership between the Ventia team and our school plays a vital role in our success.
This year, Ventia has once again confirmed their support by proudly sponsoring the Community Fair Fireworks Display, which will close out the evening with a spectacular bang!
Please join us in thanking Ventia for their continued commitment to our school and community.

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
With the first 10 days of Term 3 completed, I must say that our school has been abuzz with activity. Report cards, parent-teacher interview preparations, managing the norovirus, and of course, the scores of hours of work behind the scenes to make the Community Fair a reality. We are worried about the weather at the moment and getting the rides and vans onto the oval. We will make decisions on Monday so keep your fingers crossed this weekend that the rain goes around.
Norovirus update
I am relieved to let everyone know that we believe that the norovirus threat has lessened considerably across the past week. Working together by:
- Keeping sick kids at home
- Maintaining our daily cleaning schedule and
- Ensuring our constant reminders for hand washing have led to this I am sure.
Thank you to everyone concerned and a special thank you to our Ventia - our facility managers - who have worked tirelessly to help keep our kids well and safe. And thank you to our cleaners for their vigilant work and staff who have been determined to build strong hygiene into their daily routines.
While we believe that the worst of the virus is behind us, we still need to be vigilant. We will maintain the health and hygiene strategy for another week - just to be sure.
Report cards
Semester 1 report cards were emailed home to families on Monday of this week. These reports will form the basis of discussions at parent-teacher interviews which are planned to be held on Monday.
Parent-teacher interviews
Thank you to all of the families who have booked a time to meet witrh their child's teacher on Monday when we hold the Semester 2 parent-teacher interviews. All of the interviews
First Nations cultural programs are under way
This week, several programs launched at our school to support and strengthen cultural identity and connection to Country for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Students began participating in the Barna Jarjums Cultural Well-being and Engagement Program, as well as Solid Pathways and Deadly Choices. These programs provide valuable opportunities for students to learn more about their culture, build a sense of pride and belonging, and connect with peers in a supportive environment. It was wonderful to see students engaged and enjoying their first sessions.

Pacifikai program returns for Term 3
Our much-loved Pacifikai Program has recommenced this term with a strong focus on physical activity and well-being. Students began by revisiting our village rules—setting the tone for a respectful, connected community. They then completed a reflective questionnaire to share how they feel about physical activity and what they already know.
In celebration of Kiribati Language Week, students also explored the culture of this small but proud nation located in the heart of the Pacific Ocean—halfway between Brisbane and Hawaii! As part of our physical activity focus, students learned and played Bani (Pani), a traditional game from Kiribati, which offered a fun and energetic start to our term’s journey together.
We’re excited to see our Pacifikai students grow stronger in both body and spirit this term!

2025 School Opinion Survey
School Opinion Survey links have been emailed to our families this week. You can complete the survey at any time before Friday 22 August. It should take less than ten minutes to complete.
A lovely surprise
I was delighted this week to receive the most recent issue of the P&C magazine called Parent Talk. What made this edition more special is the recognition of our P&C president - Corina - and the editorial that was run further in the magazine. This level of recognition is rare and very special. Well done Mrs Profke, Mrs Mulders and Mrs Del Re. Very cool indeed.
OzTag teams off to a great start
I have been chatting with Mr Burrows and Mr Bradley about the progress of the two school OzTag teams. They are competing at the All Schools competition across the weekend. Today saw both teams do well with the boys winning 3 from 3 games and the girls team finishing with a win and a draw. More importantly though, they are representing the school proudly.
A special welcome to Miss Callaghan and 2E
I am delighted to introduce Miss Emmi Callaghan to our families and school. Miss Callaghan will be leading our newly created Year 2 class - 2E. We are thrilled that she is joining our team. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes for making the changes work so successfully.
Kind regards
Vic

Celebrations of Learning
Year 3 - 3J’s Angle Adventures
This term, 3J have been diving into the world of angles in Mathematics — and what an exciting journey it’s been! Students have been busy exploring angles all around them, both inside the classroom and out in the playground. From the corners of books and windows to the edges of tables and climbing equipment, the class has become expert angle-spotters!
They’ve been learning how to identify, compare, and sort different types of angles, including right angles, and angles that are smaller and larger than a right angle. Using hands-on activities and real-life examples has helped bring their learning to life. The students have shown fantastic enthusiasm and curiosity, and it’s been wonderful to see their mathematical thinking grow.
Well done, 3J, for making angles so much fun!

Year 5 - Pillowcases + Creativity = Emergency Ready Kids
5B had a fantastic time on Thursday afternoon at our Australian Red Cross Pillowcase Workshop. Students learned how to prepare for, cope with, and respond to emergencies – all while getting creative. Each student decorated their very own pillowcase to take home and use as an emergency kit. It was hands-on, colourful, and a great way to build confidence and resilience. Check out our photos to see the fun and creativity in action.

Year 6 - The world of fractions
This term, 6C has been diving into the world of fractions through a range of fun, interactive games and hands-on activities. Students have been exploring how fractions work in real life and building their confidence every step of the way.
One of the highlights has been solving fraction addition and subtraction word problems. The class has done a fabulous job working through tricky challenges by thinking critically, discussing strategies, and showing fantastic teamwork.
We are so proud of the progress 6C has made — their enthusiasm and effort have truly made them fraction superstars! Well done 6C.
