- Ultimate Athletics - Coming to Coomera Rivers
We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we walk, live and learn, the Bullongin & Kombumerri people. We pay our deepest respects to Elders resting in the Dreamtime and to the Elders of today, who will continue to care, protect and nurture the Country that we gather on to learn and connect. We feel both privileged, and grateful to now be sharing and caring for the country on which we are living and learning.
Do you have a school-aged child ready to start their exciting learning journey, or know a family who does? We’d love to welcome them to Coomera Rivers!
Enrolling early helps us prepare for a smooth and positive start to school life, ensuring every child feels supported from day one.
Please contact our Enrolment Officer, Kylie Finch, kfinc0@eq.edu.au for more details on the process.
Events, dates and times may change. Please check the school calendar regularly to keep updated.

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
This past week has been shorter than usual given today's public holiday for the Gold Coast Show - but it was still crammed with learning and activities for our children to make the most of.
Eisteddfod
Congratulations to our Mezzo Strings ensemble on their success at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod this week coming back to school with a Silver Award. For many in the ensemble, this was their first major public performance.
Inter-school sport
The first day of inter-school sport was conducted on Thursday. Each of the previous four days had been washed out in what has been a VERY wet year so far. I was delighted to see the focus of the students as they departed by bus. Their pride and sense of privilege to represent the school was visible.
We way we played reflected spirit and respect as well as our sporting motto of fun - fitness - friendship. Respect at school sport means to:
- Encourage team mates
- Put our team first
- Celebrate our team and never make fun of mistakes made by the opposition
- Follow every decision of the referee or umpire

Wakakirri success
Congratulations to our Wakakirri troupe on their selection to perform at the State level performances on Tuesday night (9 September). This success means that we have bumped the P&C meeting back another week. I am sure the night will once again be filled with nerves and excitement.
Student-free day reminder
Just a reminder that Friday 5 September is gazetted by the Department of Education as a student free day. Children do not attend school on this day.
Kind regards
Vic
A big cheer for our junior superstars! These students have impressed us with their dedication and amazing learning this week. We’re so excited to celebrate their success!

Celebration of Learning
Prep
This term in Prep F we have been practising our speaking skills and building our confidence presenting in front of our peers through a daily show and share. This has been to help students prepare for their speaking assessment which is a Fairytale retell. We have also been practising discussing what they like and how they felt about it.
Each week the topic has been something different and this week, we have been sharing our favourite place or thing to do on the weekend.
Since starting the students have become much more confident and are able to talk to and about what they show. Great to see so much improvement.

Year 1

This week, 2M have been busy working hard and having fun in the classroom! After reading Can We Take Woolly to the Library?, we wrote persuasive letters to Ms Katie, sharing our reasons for why we should (or should not!) have a mammoth in our library. We also enjoyed some creative mammoth-making arts and crafts to bring the story to life. In Mathematics, we explored measurement through hands-on, collaborative activities, using real objects to compare and measure. It has been a wonderful week of imagination, creativity and teamwork, with these highlights making learning extra engaging for 2M!
Mezzo Strings
Our last performing arts group went to the Gold Coast Eisteddfod on Wednesday afternoon. The Mezzo Strings ensemble, conducted by Miss Baker, performed two songs with a piano accompanist. Our group was small but mighty! We came away with a silver award and memories for a lifetime as, for most of our students, it was their first performance away from school. Despite feeling nervous, these students demonstrated bravery and perseverance by trying new things! We look forward to hearing more music from this budding ensemble. Congratulations, Mezzo Strings!

As we start preparing for the 2026 school year, it is very important that we know if any students will not be returning to Coomera Rivers. This information plays a vital role in helping us plan class structures, allocate staffing, and ensure the very best start for all students.
If your child will not be returning in 2026, please contact our Enrolment Officer Kylie Finch, kfinc0@eq.edu.au, as soon as possible. Your support in keeping us informed is greatly appreciated.
of the P&C Association
The next general meeting of the P&C Association will be held on Tuesday 16 September at 7:00pm, via TEAMS.
Please email the P&C at pandc@coomerariversss.eq.edu.au for a TEAMS link.
P&C meetings are a great way to keep up to date with what is going on around our school. The meetings also provide our families with an opportunity to have input and feedback on matters relating to school and community life. Meetings are open to all families and we encourage families to attend our on-line meeting and contribute to your school community which forms a vital part of your children's educational journey.
We look forward to seeing you on-line at our next meeting.

Year 6 Signature Bear orders open
Each year we offer our graduating class the chance to purchase a signature bear as a memento of their time at Coomera Rivers.
The signature bears are available to order now via School24 with orders closing on Wednesday 17 September at 4:00pm.
If you do require a deadline extension you MUST email the P&C prior to the deadline to request one. Once the deadline has past, orders will then be arranged and personalised (with class of 2025 school logo) and will arrive in time to be distributed to class late in Term 4 with students offered the opportunity to have their bears signed by their peers and teachers before bringing them home.
If you require more information please email the P&C.
Have a look to see the amazing things that our OSHC are doing with The Resilience Project.
We would like to offer our Prep students the chance to create their own little masterpiece as a souvenir of their first year at school.
While saved artwork on paper can tear and fade, children’s art that is turned into any one of the products listed on the below flyer can be enjoyed for many years. And they make a great Christmas gift!
The items on the below flyer are available to purchase now through School24.
If you do require a deadline extension you MUST email the P&C prior to the deadline to request one.
Uniform Price Increase – Effective 1 October
Our uniform provider, The School Locker, has advised that there will be a uniform price increase effective from 1 October this year.
They have shared that these increases are unavoidable and are due to rising operational costs.
If your family is in need of any new uniforms, you may wish to make your purchases before this date to take advantage of current pricing.
Have you registered for QParents?
Here at Coomera Rivers, we encourage all families to register for QParents to help make school communication and administration easier and more efficient for you.
What is QParents?
QParents is a secure online portal that gives parents quick, easy access to your student information including timetables, report cards, payment history, enrolment history, behaviour records and attendance records.
Parents can also use QParents to report future absences, provide reasons for unexplained absences, update student addresses and medical records and pay outstanding invoices.
Coomera Rivers is working towards transitioning to QParents Consent Management for all excursion permissions and consent forms. This change will streamline the process for families by allowing consent to be provided digitally—eliminating the need for paper forms.
How do I register for QParents?
-
Your invitation code (these have been emailed to you - please check junk/spam folders).
-
Your child's EQ ID which can be found on any invoice you have received from the school.
