Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
With just 10 school days remaining for the term, it is going to be a rush to fit everything in after losing a couple of weeks to the COVID restrictions.
Changes to before school arrangements
The changes outlined below begin on Monday 6 September.
We are making some changes to the before school bell routines to provide teachers opportunities for greater flexibility in their own morning routines. The changes are:
From Monday 6 September:
Time | Activity |
8:00am | Supervision begins and all students need to either be waiting in the appropriate waiting area or involved in one of the before school activities. |
8:20am | A bell at this time will indicate that students should move to their classroom areas. Non-teaching staff will supervise students outside classrooms until the class doors open. |
8:30am | Classroom doors need to be open by this time for instruction to begin. Please note that teachers are not required to open their classroom before the 8:30am bell. Please contact me or your child's teacher if you have any concerns you would like to discuss. |
Our regular before school activities will continue as they currently are.
Play at school
We aim to play as safely as possible at school. Please remind your children that we cannot use tackling in games, rugby, soccer or touch football.
Parent teacher interviews
Parent teacher interviews will be scheduled in Week 2 of Term 2 (11 October). The booking schedule will be sent home in the next issue of the newsletter. (Issue 29)
Parking around school
I agree with everyone that parking around the school is a significant challenge. I would dearly love to have another carpark that we could access but this will not happen so we need to make the most of what we have and use it repectfully and safely.
Please:
- Only stop or park in designated spaces
- Never block driveways or traffic flow
- Never push into a line of traffic and always join the back of the queue
- Watch out for children of all ages - they will not watch out for you!
- Use the Kiss n Go properly. Never park there during the drop off and pick up times. If your child requires support getting in or out of the car, please use the carpark.

Year 2 take on science
Year 2 were treated to an incursion this week which supported our Science unit about Living things. They participated in two programs: 'Plant power' and 'Living Things'. During the 'Plant Power' program, students were involved in a range of hands on activities where they identified the parts of a plant, looked at how a plant's nutrients travels up a stem and tested the ph level of soils. They even got to plant and take home seeds to watch them grow. During the 'Living Things' program, students got to sort items as living and non-living, imagine life as a bug and use magnifying glasses to explore the external features of living things.
