Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
The final week of 2019 has finished and we can now take a breath and begin to relax a little as Christmas approaches.
Highlights this week
Three big events in the final week have been highlights.
Swimming carnival: The 2 days of swimming carnival were excellent. The weather was warm but cloud cover provided some relief. The students thoroughly enjoyed their events and worked well as a team to earn house points. Well done to the staff on running a fabulous 2 days of swimming and ensuring that everyone stayed safe.
Annual awards assemblies: The two assemblies showcased the standards of excellence across each class in the school. While only three students were able to be selected for the awards, the fact that at least another ten students could have been considered, shows the depth of excellence in our school.
Graduation: A lovely evening befitting the significance of the event. Well done to Mrs Artz and her team on once again leading a remarkable event.

Thank you to the staff team
Our school is unique in just how many additional opportunities we offer to our children outside of the regular school day. There are literally scores of extra-curricular activites available to students across the year. The more that students are involved in these activities, the more they attend school and the better they perform. I am sincerely appreciative to my colleagues for their wonderful work this year before between and after the bells.
2020 classes
Teachers will email families on Wednesday 22 January, welcoming your child to their class for 2020.
Book drop off and meet the new teacher
The school will be open on Friday morning 24 January so families can drop in to the school to meet the 2020 teachers, find the new classrooms and drop off book packs. This is designed to make the first day of school much simpler.
I hope that everyone has a lovely Christmas vacation. Please check in to the P&C Facebook page for information on the 2020 school year.
Merry Christmas
Kind regards
Vic
Summer is well and truly here and the temperatures on Monday and Tuesday were perfect for our swimming fun day carnivals. The Year 3&4 competed on Monday and the Year 5&6 concluded the event on Tuesday. The house points changed with each year level and after a sustained tussle, Foxwell finally drew away from the other houses to score a convincing win.
Thank you sincerely to the HPE team on the tremendous organisation of the events and to the many staff who were poolside to ensure that everyone had a great experience and stayed safe.

2020 Student leaders announced
The 2020 Head of School and Head of Student Council positions were announced on Thursday at the awards assembly. From an original group of over 70 applicants, the students were shortlisted, tested at a leadership day where they were challenged with team work and problem solving situations. A subsequent shortlist meant that 12 were interviewed and I am delighted to announce that the follow appilcants were successful.

Farewell and best wishes to the graduating Year 6 cohort of 2019. They have been a cohesive and self-motivated year group. The student leaders – and in particular Imogen and Georgina – have been splendid in their personal efforts, in their guidance, and in their consistent representation of our school. I wish them well in their moves to their respective secondary schools, buoyed in the knowledge that they have been shaped by the values of this school, and I promise them that they will always remain part of the Coomera Rivers community.

As we are nearing the end of 2019, we are remembering our first year as Coomera Rives Outside School Hours Care. We feel so lucky to have had such a successful transtition and first year. We want to thank you, our families and friends for your support and trust in us to help our beautiful serive grow!
We have worked hard to provide an efficient service that strives to welcome, love, play and create memories with our students. Looking back we remember the fun excursions we enjoyed; Tropical Fruit World, Time Zone and of course, bowling! Our breakfast and afternoon tea menu was a hit and one of the things our students would get super excited about! The favourites of the year would have to be sausage rolls, ceasar salad, egg-free pikelets, sausage muffins and of course, good old mac and cheese.
To our students, we hope you have fun over your holidays whether you’re joining our adventures at OSHC or spending time with your family. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2020!
