Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Congratulations to everyone for the incredible achievements made across this past term. Headlining has been our School Musical, Public Speaking, Parent-teacher interviews, School sport, Father's day activities, New Zealand Principals' visit and Under 8s Day.
This week saw the Year 6 Gallery Walk where students celebrated the lives of everyday heroes - people who inspire them to be amazing. The presentations were superb.
Congratulations to all of the Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 classes for participating in the NRL Tag Gala Day on Thursday. It was a great day had by all and was great to see students getting out there and having a go, all while learning new skills.
Thank you to the staff and parents for their support and encouragement.

Changes happening at school
You will notice some changes at the school when we return. The Department of Education is relocating two of our modular buildings to other schools. The buildings being removed include the Prep modular and the Year 2 double-storey modular. The removal will occur over the vacation and the site reparations will occur in the first week or two after we return.
This means that the back pedestrian gate will not be open during this time. I expect that we will have access back from Week 3.
There will also be some garden upgrades around the hall and tennis court areas, an extension to the back waiting area at the hall, some electrical work in the Cafe and the hall kitchen, new furniture for the iCentre and a long list of smaller jobs. All of this is part of the contribution by the P&C to facilities for students.
Spring vacation
The school spring vacation is now here. Well done to the school staff for their continued commitment to our children and their learning, and the array of opportunities offered.
We resume on Monday 30 September at 8:30am.
Congratulations to these students on their sensational end to Term 3.

Celebrations of Learning
Year 3
Throughout the year, our Grade 3 students have been diligently working on improving their number skills. As a fun end-of-term activity, the entire cohort participated in a Blooket challenge in the hall to determine our top three number whizzes. It's important to note that to succeed at Blooket you not only need to know the correct answer you also need to have the fastest response time. By all accounts it appears that a great time was had by all. Congratulations to our three winners; Easton (3A), Khloe (3M) and Salma (3S).

Year 4
Year 4 students have been exploring a variety of ecosystems, looking at food chains and food webs of many different organisms. We have also had fun with composite shapes, creating shape art using multiple 2D shapes and solving tangram puzzles, this was a fun mindfulness activity. We are super excited about the holidays and are looking forward to our final term together in Year 4.

5L Celebrate Term 3 Attendance
This term, students in 5L challenged themselves to improve their school attendance for the last 7 weeks of term, following the first 3 weeks of term. A number of students achieved 100% attendance with many students improving, some significantly. Mrs Leick and Mrs Spedding provided each student an attendance tracker which they added a sticker to daily when they attended school. Mr Meijboom visited on the last day and congratulated the class for their efforts, awarded some students with certificates, and treated the whole class to a game of bingo, with a number of prizes that were won. Keep up the great work 5L.

Year 6 Gallery Walk
This term, students in Year 6 had the opportunity to meet some incredibly inspiring people, our Everyday Heroes. Each student selected one of these amazing individuals to write an inspiring character analysis for and shared their finished product at a recent Gallery Walk in the hall.

Well done to all students who packed a Waste Free Lunch Box every week for Waste Free Wednesday this term. The winner of our major prize - a sustainable lunch box pack - is Olivia from 3J. Congratulations Olivia!

in some extra-curricular opportunities at school this term
Coomera Rivers is committed to offering our students as many additional opportunities as we can. Below is a list of the activities on offer this term. Some are privately provided opportunities held at school but most are run by our school staff. Most activities are free or very reasonably priced. Please contact the co-ordinator for more information if you are interested in your child participating.
As you will see, the older the students are, the greater the number of opportunities that exist for them. This is due to department regulations around competitive sport and other aspects of school.
Thank you sincerely to the staff teams who provide their time and expertise for the students. I am very grateful for their generous contributions.
