We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we walk, live and learn, the Bullongin & Kombumerri people. We pay our deepest respects to Elders resting in the Dreamtime and to the Elders of today, who will continue to care, protect and nurture the Country that we gather on to learn and connect. We feel both privileged, and grateful to now be sharing and caring for the country on which we are living and learning.
Events, dates and times may change. Please check the school calendar regularly to keep updated.

Deadline reminder for volunteers
Would you like to be eligible to offer your help on class excursions or in the classrooms or Café this year? Then we want you.
But first, you MUST be a registered and inducted volunteer. This is a legal and insurance requirement. The deadline to register and complete the induction is approaching.
**The deadline is Friday 7 March**
Email the P&C for more details.
Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Thank you to everyone who has supported our second great week at school this year. Routines and activities are starting to begin for the year - before, during and after school.
Restructure is being prepared
Schools are staffed on enrolment numbers. Public schools do not have a set number of classes like schools in the private sector, so we never know how many students we will have to start school each year and it is very rare that we have enrolments in groups of 25.
We collect enrolment data on Day 8 and then we are allocated teacher numbers. It is a usual activity each year to restructure the classes to best balance class numbers.
We will be planning our restructure in the coming days. We will notify families affected by any class changes on Wednesday 12 February (by paper note). All changes will be made on Friday 14 February during the day.
Our staff is very used to these processes and we always support students sensitively in this change process. If your child is affected by a change, you can assist by speaking positively to them and being excited to meet the new teacher. Your confidence will usually spill over onto your children.
Chess Club
Chess Club is open to all students (Prep - Year 6). Players of all abilities are welcome. Chess Club is held each Wednesday afternoon after school. There is a small cost each term to cover professional coaching. Places are limited to 40 students.
If you would like your children to be involved, please email Mrs McMurtrie.
Oval seating project is about to start
The site works fencing will soon be set up and the project will begin soon afterwards. We plan to remove the current garden and create tiered block seating along the bank. We will also have a small outdoor stage with power.
I anticipate that, with reasonable weather patterns, the work will be finished for the start of Term 2.
Keep up the great work
Attendance data across the first two weeks of school is fantastic. Every day at school counts and success at school needs great attendance rates.
Sad news
I am saddened this week to inform our community of the sudden and unexpected passing of Andrew Moore. Andrew was our Ventia Facilities Manager and a familiar face at our school. He had worked at Coomera Rivers for over 18 months and his passion for our school, his care for others and his drive to see the facility improve for our community was evident in all he did. We are going to miss him. On behalf of our community, I would like to extend my condolences to his friends and family on their loss.
Kind regards
Vic
These students have demonstrated exceptional effort and achievement this week.

Celebration of learning
Year 3
3J’s Fantastic Start to the Year
The students in 3J have had a wonderful first two weeks back at school. They have enjoyed reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and settling into our classroom community. We have spent time revisiting our school expectations and supporting each other in creating a positive and respectful learning environment. The class has also been busy becoming familiar with our daily routines and classroom procedures, setting us up for a successful and exciting year of learning ahead.

Year 4
The Year 4 cohort had a fantastic start to the 2025 school year, filled with excitement, laughter, and new friendships. During the first week, students had fun playing games and getting to know their new teachers and classmates, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere. The giant smiles on their faces as we wrapped up the week were a clear sign of how much they enjoyed it. As Week 2 began, we eagerly jumped back into the swing of learning. For teachers, this was a valuable time to get to know our students as learners, while the students had the opportunity to explore how they learn best. We are excited to see what this year holds for each Year 4 class and look forward to the incredible learning journeys ahead!
Year 6
This week, students participated in a LEGO activity that promoted teamwork, problem solving and collaboration. Working with new peers, they shared ideas, supported one another, and built friendships through creative construction.
