We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we walk, live and learn, the Bullongin & Kombumerri people. We pay our deepest respects to Elders resting in the Dreamtime and to the Elders of today, who will continue to care, protect and nurture the Country that we gather on to learn and connect. We feel both privileged, and grateful to now be sharing and caring for the country on which we are living and learning.
Events, dates and times may change. Please check the school calendar regularly to keep updated.

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
We are already halfway through Term 1 and things are about to become busy with parent-teacher interviews, school photos, colour explosion and cross-country (and more) still to come this term.
One BIG challenge for many will be the road closures that are about to begin. Not only will they affect car traffic to school but also the school bus runs. Please make sure that you are aware of the changes.
2025 Heads of School
Congratulations to Emily and Nia, who are the Coomera Rivers Heads of School for 2025. They were presented their badge at a recent Assembly. We look forward to them leading our wonderful school in 2025.
NAPLAN is nearly here
NAPLAN is a national literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress. NAPLAN results do not measure overall school quality.
Our Year 3 & 5 students have undertaken practice testing and class teachers are providing further opportunities for students to practice in the online environment.
We encourage students and parents to familiarise themselves with NAPLAN Online by visiting the public demonstration site - https://nap.edu.au/naplan/public-demonstration-site on the NAP website.
Parents can refer to the NAPLAN information brochure for parents and carers and NAPLAN student privacy notice.
For further information, please visit ACARA NAPLAN Online website, ACARA's Assessment Platform and Advice for Parents and Caregivers about NAPLAN.
Students require an iPad with iOS17 or higher, the NAP 2025 app and headphones.
Students may be withdrawn from the testing program by their parent/carer. Withdrawals are intended to address issues such as religious beliefs and philosophical objections to testing. Please contact your child’s Teacher, Intensive Support Teacher and/or Deputy Principal, should you wish to choose to withdraw your child from NAPLAN.
Parents and carers of students with disability should discuss with their child’s Teacher, and/or Intensive Support Teacher, adjustments that may be suitable for their child.
The 2025 NAPLAN Online testing at Coomera Rivers SS will occur from Week 7, Wednesday 12 March to Monday 17 March following the below test schedule:

Celebrations of learning
Prep
Can you believe we are already half way through our first term in Prep! Prep students have settled in so incredibly well into their new routines and have worked hard to make positive friendships. Prep J students think the playground, sandpit, learning sounds and making friends has been their favourite part of prep so far.
This week, Prep J have been so busy learning their sounds, we have even begun writing and spelling some small words in our books. We are all working very hard at writing our name correctly. We practise counting to 20 and have explored the classroom by looking for shapes. Prep J have enjoyed painting portraits of themselves. Mrs Small and Mrs Jensen are SO proud of everything Prep J have achieved so far this year!

Year 1
1L’s Data Detectives!
This term, 1L has been busy exploring how we can collect and present data in Maths. We started by using tally marks to record our favourite colours and pets, then transformed this data into pictographs. We discovered how graphs make it easy to compare information in a fun and visual way.
On Friday, some of our students participated in their first session of Lolly Maths! Each student received a small packet of M&Ms or Skittles, sorted them by colour, and recorded their findings in a tally chart and pictograph. We then compared our data, noticing interesting similarities and differences between packets. It was a delicious way to learn about data collection and analysis!
Year 2
There is nothing but jam-packed, action-filled, and exciting learning happening in Year 2 classrooms! From developing confidence to share and present character trait speeches to creating artistic props to accompany our talks, it has been nothing short of fun in the literacy strand. We have enjoyed filming our speeches and providing our peers with "tickled pink" and "green for growth" feedback. In maths, we have been building our confidence with numbers and place value while engaging in hands-on learning experiences. We have also been working on giving and following directions using the terms left, right, forward, backward, up, and down.
Congratulations to these dedicated students for their sensational efforts this week!
