We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we walk, live and learn, the Bullongin & Kombumerri people. We pay our deepest respects to Elders resting in the Dreamtime and to the Elders of today, who will continue to care, protect and nurture the Country that we gather on to learn and connect. We feel both privileged, and grateful to now be sharing and caring for the country on which we are living and learning.

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
This week has been slaps (I have learned that this actually means awesome in Gen Z speak). While I am not sure if I have used the term in the correct context, I can say that our before, lunchtime and after school activities are in full swing and the school has been alive and busy. This week saw our Mother's Day stall, Book Fair in the iCentre, GEM club Soccer training, OzTag training, Kokoda training, netball training, lego club, chess club, music practice and breakfast club. We also had our cross country team represent us at the district carnival on Thursday and Kokoda Squad training on Saturday mornings.
Thank you to the staff who provide these wonderful opportunities for our children. Each of you is just amazing and I am just so grateful for all you do.

In the pool
Year 3 have been attending swimming lessons all week at the Pimpama Sports Hub. The lessons have been very enjoyable and students have been very focused.

In the mud
Kokoda squad training went ahead last Saturday morning at sunrise, despite the rainfall from the previous couple of days. We checked the track on the Friday in preparation for training to find the creeks running across the track. We trained hard on the steep hills and rough terrain in preparation for the School's Kokoda Challenge on June 7 in Brisbane. Well done to the mums and dad who joined our session as well. You absolutely nailed it!
We will have four teams compete in the 18km event in the brutally challenging D'Aguillar State Forest in western Brisbane. Thank you so very much to the coaches and parents who pretended that they enjoyed the mud on Saturday, and to the young athletes who genuinely did.

Celebrations of Learning
3M
We’ve been deeply engaged in our learning and enjoying every moment of it.

Year 4
Did you know that Year 4 students from Coomera Rivers State School went on an excursion last week? We were so excited to attend Year 4 Day Camp at Runaway Bay, especially since our original date was postponed due to Tropical Cyclone Alfred. The weather was sunny and bright, so we were even more eager to be outdoors! Our schedule for the day included survivor, beach games, stand-up paddle boarding, and initiative games. Some of us may have been outside our comfort zone at first, but we displayed resilience and had the positive mindset of Fun, Fitness and Friendship. We had an amazing time and have created fond memories with our classes.

Year 5
It’s been a quiet but focused week in 5B as we’ve settled into new learning. We’ve started exploring how to write information reports, with students showing great curiosity and attention to detail. We also took time to reflect on the meaning of ANZAC Day and what respect looks like in our school community. Thoughtful discussions and engaged learning have made this a meaningful week for us all.

Year 6
This week in 6T, we’ve been actively exploring the key features that make an effective information report, focusing on structure, clarity, factual accuracy, and engaging content. We analysed a variety of examples to identify common techniques used by skilled writers. Students then began planning their own reports, applying what they’ve learned to organise and present information clearly and effectively.
