We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we walk, live and learn, the Bullongin & Kombumerri people. We pay our deepest respects to Elders resting in the Dreamtime and to the Elders of today, who will continue to care, protect and nurture the Country that we gather on to learn and connect. We feel both privileged, and grateful to now be sharing and caring for the country on which we are living and learning.

Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
Term 2 has come to an end with some fantastic ways to celebrate. Our sports fun days and movie rewards days headlined the week. Looking backacross the termsaw so many opportunities and achievements. These include:
- Our annual school ANZAC service
- School review
- P&C Awards for Spirit and OSHC
- Kokoda school's challenge
- School disco
- mySpeak competitions
- Several excursions (Prep, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 5) and our
- Arts Showcase concert
Sports fun days
It was Pedley's carnival this year with The Power leading the way in both senior and junior carnivals. The most impressive parts of the carnival for me were:
- The spirit and leadership shown by our senior students and young leaders was remarkable. Not only did they compete in their own age groups with fun-fitness-friendship, they then led the junior students by modelling the standards of our school. I am most appreciative. They helped set up and pack up each day, led the cheering and encouragement, and more. They never stopped.
- The very positive contributions of our teachers who led the activities for our young athletes. The overall success of the carnival is determined by this wonderful team and once again, they shone.
- The house spirit shown, particularly during war cries, was amazing.
Thank you to Ms Findlay and Mr Burrows for coordinating a wonderful event for our school . Thanks also to Mr Barnes for for marking out the fields and preparing the areas. Great job.
Thank you also to our P&C for managing the hot dog lunches. Not only were the meals delicious, the team was well organised. It is never easy to serve 200+ meals quickly. Well done.

100 days at school for our preppies
Making every day count
I would like to challenge all students and families to set an attendance goal for next term. We will have 48 school days in Term 3. How many full days will your children attend?
Attendance Level | Of the 48 school days |
Excellent | 46+ full days (95%) |
Very good | 43-46 full days (90%) |
Satisfactory | 40-42 full days (85%) |
Needs attention | <40 full days (<85%) |
Best wishes to Mrs Davies
It was early this week when we learned that Mrs Davies won a teaching position at a school close to her home. She will take over a Year 4 class next semester at Hills International College in Jimboomba.
This is very exciting news for her and her family. Mrs Davies has contributed greatly to many students and families across the past 8 years at our school. I am very appreciative to her for all she has done for our community and we will greatly miss her welcoming smile and warm and caring nature.
We are currently working with our department for her replacement. So the Year 2 restructure is on hold for a short time until we have a teacher appointed. We will let our Year 2 families know as soon as we are able.
Winter vacation
The winter vacation break is here. I hope that everyone is able to enjoy some quality time with their family across the next fortnight.
School resumes for Term 3 on Monday 14 July.
Kind regards
Vic
Camp Rock at Foxwell
Earlier this week, Mrs Ellison, Miss Atkinson and Miss Katie took the students from our Wakakirri cast up to Foxwell State Secondary College to watch their musical production, Camp Rock. Students were most impressed by their energy, costumes and charisma on stage. We travelled up to the school on foot and students were very surprised to learn that it was only a 20 minute commute. One of the best parts of seeing this production was watching so many previous Coomera River State School students shine on stage.

Wakakirri ticket sales
Our performance night is the Monday 18 August. We have been notified that tickets for our performance are now live! Watching the performance is optional and has been priced externally by the Logan Entertainment Centre at $40.50 per ticket. Important: Student transport to the venue will be organised through the school via bus but they will need to be collected by their families at the conclusion of the performance at the Logan Entertainment Centre.
Congratulations to all students who participated in this year's mySpeak competition. We were very impressed with the time the students had obviously taken to write and practise their speeches. Celebrations of Learning
Year 3
This week we were thrilled to welcome parents into the classroom to celebrate all the wonderful learning that has taken place this term. Students proudly shared the informative texts they’ve been working hard on and enjoyed showing off other class activities and achievements. We also wrapped up the term with our final maths assessment, where students estimated and timed themselves completing fun tasks—one of the highlights was making a paper duck! It was a joyful way to end a fantastic term of learning.

Year 4
Did you know that Year 4 students have been learning about respect in digital spaces? Over the past two weeks students have participated in lessons about digital responsibility, cyber safety, cyber-bullying, and activities where they carefully select the most appropriate response to a scenario. They created a ‘cyber smart digital footprint’ and wrote tips on how to be a cyber-smart kid. Students are confident in their reasons as to why they need to protect their identity and personal information on-line and can identify when they need to ask for an adult’s help. Support networks have been a main topic of discussion and students have practised how they can respectfully ask for help.

Year 5
This term, 5Y have been hard at work researching, writing, editing and presenting their own multi-modal news reports based on the 2025 NSW floods. Students have shown great focus and effort, using a range of learning resources to create informative and engaging reports. Their final work is now proudly displayed in the iCentre for CRSS families and the wider school community to view and enjoy. The class should be proud of their efforts and the development of their informative writing skills.
Year 6
Out-of-This-World Art
To celebrate the conclusion of our Space Science unit, Year 6 transformed the classroom into a cosmic studio, creating swirling galaxy paintings complete with imaginative alien spacecraft. The vibrant paintings showcase students’ understanding of nebulae, star clusters, and planetary orbits—proving that science and creativity make a stellar combination!
Skateboarding success
A huge congratulations to Louie in Year 6 for not only giving his best effort at the recent Skate Australia Park competition last weekend, but he placed 1st in the Men’s Open division.

Have you registered for QParents?
Here at Coomera Rivers, we encourage all families to register for QParents to help make school communication and administration easier and more efficient for you.
What is QParents?
QParents is a secure online portal that gives parents quick, easy access to your student information including timetables, report cards, payment history, enrolment history, behaviour records and attendance records.
Parents can also use QParents to report future absences, provide reasons for unexplained absences, update student addresses and medical records and pay outstanding invoices.
Coomera Rivers is working towards transitioning to QParents Consent Management for all excursion permissions and consent forms. This change will streamline the process for families by allowing consent to be provided digitally—eliminating the need for paper forms.
