Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
This has been a week like no other we have experienced. It has been exciting, demanding and challenging - all at the same time. I want to thank all of the mums, dads, grandparents and carers who are supporting the learning and well-being of our children this past week. Your jobs have been very complex these past five days as you balanced your home duties, work and keeping your children engaged in their learning programs. I can report that your teachers are indeed, very impressed with you. Thank you for the courage and persistence you have shown and modelled.
I want to encourage you and your family to make time to practice self-care and enjoy quality family time across the weekend. Do not allow yourselves to neglect this.
If you are having difficulty supporting your child's learning at home, please contact your child's classroom teacher.
Your feedback
We have completed the first week of our home program and would like to invite you to provide some feedback to us. The feedback will be used to tweak our programs to improve them for you and your children. Please note that teachers are always planned a few weeks in advance so the feedback will not be seen immediately.
Each year level has its own survey link.
The survey windows will close at 6:00pm on Monday evening.
Marking the roll each day
Please remember that there are three ways that we are marking the roll. Students are registered if they are:
- At school in class at 8:30am
- Checked in on Seesaw between 8:30 - 10:00am each day.
- Contacted the school via the absence line, general phone line or email to explain that children are working at home.
Remote learning this week
The teachers have been thoroughly enjoying their opportunities to create videos to post on Seesaw. I have also seen heaps of work stations too. Here is just an assortment.

Keeping ANZAC Day alive in 2020
ANZAC Day is tomorrow. When times are tough, Australians have always relied on the distinctive qualities of mateship, humour, ingenuity, courage and endurance to get us through. Known as the ANZAC Spirit, these five qualities have defined Australians ever since the first troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in World War I.
This year, the RSL is asking us to stand in our driveways, on our balconies or in our living rooms to remember all those who have served and sacrificed at 6am on Saturday 25th April. So while we can't attend Dawn services or community marches, we can stand united in spirit to commemorate our ANZACs.
Click here to sign up to Light-up-the-dawn with us.
At Coomera Rivers, ANZAC Day is our largest commemoration for the year and we're a little sad we're going to miss this opportunity to stand united with our students this year. However, like always, we have a Plan B. We'd love for families to capture a photograph of their children and/or family 'Lighting up the dawn' or commemorating ANZAC Day and send this to Mrs Artz by 6:00PM on Saturday night (25/04/2020).
We will then compile a video montage of our families to share on Facebook and class SeeSaw accounts on Sunday. Please be sure to get involved as we'd love to see your family standing united in spirit. Be creative to capture that poignant moment.
** Please note that we will be uploading the selected photos to Facebook. Sending your photo to Mrs Artz is considered permission for us to use the image. Images will be selected at random.
Kind regards
Vic
We Will Remember Them
With the latest hustle and bustle all around us, Term 2 was at our doorstep before we knew it. While our week one this term looked different to normal, we took it in our stride and donned our bravery medals. Recognising the week that was, we spoke about the bravery the ANZAC’s had to fight for our country all those years ago. We sought our courage from them, we looked up to them and we remembered them.
Using our love and passion for arts and craft, we created a wreath to display in our service, we made Red poppies and placed them in our garden after we learnt they are a symbol of ANZAC Day. The children responded really well to the activities that were centred around ANZAC Day, showing an understanding of their sacrifice and gratefulness of our free country today.
We are loving the time with our children and are already looking forward to next week. We hope you and your family have a lovely, safe weekend remembering the courageous, brave ANZACs. We wanted to let you know, this year you can get involved and remember by lighting up the dawn; standing on your driveway or balcony on Saturday 25 April at 6:00am.
