Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
With only ten school days remaining for the term, please make sure that, if your child is well, that they attend school on time, every day, ready to learn.
Report Cards
We will be preparing report cards across the next few weeks but they will not be sent home until Week 3 of Term 3. This process has been suggested by the department as schools try to reconstruct their systems following the five week home program period. The reports will be slightly different in the amount of information that they contain but as always, if there is anything you wish to query, please contact your child's teacher. At this stage there is no option for face to face parent meetings.
Cash payments at school are no more
Our office is now going cashless as a result of COVID 19 and restrictions. The payment window will still operate but will only be managing EFTPOS and credit transactions.
Electronic banking is still available but the BEST option is called BPoint. This is available through the Q Parents app. The BPoint link is also located on the bottom of each invoice.
School website
We are currently upgrading our website. This will take another couple of weeks but once it is ready I will let everyone know.
Good at Learning - Good at Life
Thinking globally
We are citizens of the world and we need to connect with others so that we create a deeper and stronger understanding of others and develop an empathy for them. Many of our classes and students have been making some amazing connections.
Some examples of work happening in and around our school include our students:
- Designing a questionnaire to interview family members around the impact of COVID on their life and recording this using technology.
- Interviewing a parent in Wales to explore how the home learning journey has been from her perspective.
- Interviewing teachers and students from 30 countries around the world to gain an understanding of their perspective and compiling the information in a book to be published.
- The creation of a personalised learning program for students so they can participate in activities which target their interests.
- Designing surveys to ask local businesses and workers how COVID has impacted on their company. From this, students will design a solution which could support them more in moving forward.
Acting locally
Well done to Chloe, Jorja and Anna from 6K. The girls have been giving up their lunch breaks across the past week to work on creating character stick puppets for next term's Year 1 English unit. Retelling familiar stories is going to be extra fun for our Year 1 students, knowing their Year 6 buddies made the puppets especially for them.
Kind regards
Vic Graham
Principal
Congratulations to this week's 'Excellence Awards' recipients.

Year 5&6

This week saw some sensational achievements and we enjoyed celebrating learning with stickers and even some handball. Well done to everyone who earned recognition this week.

This week at OSHC we have introduced a new and exciting change to our after-school routine. Typically, each age group stays with the same educators for their entirety of the afternoon rotations.
Throughout the week we have been trialling a new routine where educators are assigned to either homework, afternoon tea or active play. This change means that the children are given the opportunity to see all of the educators throughout the afternoon instead of staying with the same ones! So far, this revised routine, has been a major success! With positive feedback, along with critical feedback, we have adjusted our rotation times so that it suits our educators and also the children. In addition to this we have also adjusted our rotation times, it allows the children a chance to have more play time, craft time and they are also able to socialise with their friends and siblings that may be in a different grade. We love seeing the bright, smiley faces at OSHC every day, but since we have changed our routine, we see even bigger and brighter smiles!
This routine change will be sticking around for a while, with more improvements and fun to come!

The next general meeting of the P&C Association will be held on Thursday 18 June at 3:00pm. This is a new 'trial' time for this month.
We understand that some parents may have children with them so we will have access to an area for children during the meeting.
If you have an agenda item please email the secretary with the details by no later than 9:00am Tuesday 16 June.
P&C meetings are a great way to keep up to date with what is going on around our school - especially given the current circumstances around managing in this coronavirus period. The meetings also provide our families with an opportunity to have input and feedback on matters relating to school and community life. Meetings are open to all families and we encourage families to come along and contribute to your school community which forms a vital part of your children's educational journey.
We look forward to seeing you there.
