Dear mums, dads, carers and colleagues
This has been a super week at school, headlined by the Sports Fun Days. These mini carnivals were very well attended and I want to acknowledge the support of our families who cheered the little athletes on. Our children epitomised our sports mantra of Fun - Fitness - Friendship across the entire day. While the results went Pedley's way this time, the scores were very close.
Thank you sincerely to our P&C for supporting student lunches and to the staff team who were once again amazing in their planning and delivery on the day.
Principal's attendance breakfast
Thank you to the staff who helped me acknowledge the attendance achievements of students in Term 2. The pancake breakfast was once again very well received. The morning was chilly so it was very pleasant working at the BBQ.
Please do not worry if your child did not make the target this term. It has been very difficult with so much illness about. We start again in Term 3 with 49 school days and a target of 95%.
Report cards have been sent home
Report cards were emailed home on Thursday. From time to time, they can pop up in junk so please check there if you have not received one for your child.
Being good at learning takes different amounts of time for different children. The key to being a good learner is effort. Please value your child's effort grades as much as their academic progress. Effort represents their work ethic and it is vital to success.
A kind donation
William and Liam's mum Lisa has been very kind to donate a book called Remember Triple Zero Heroes to our library. Lisa is featured as an illustrator in the book. The book is signed by the author and each of the illustrators. Lisa visited this week to read the story to the classes and we managed to capture a few photos. Thank you to Lisa (& William) for the kind donation.

School dental van (Every day)
Many families will have seen the school dental van at school. It will be parked in the Coomera Rivers staff car park until early August, so please make use of this awesome opportunity. Costs for private dental care and procedures can be very expensive but this service is absolutely free. Please contact the very friendly staff on the flier for more information.
The dental van will be leaving Coomera Rivers on Wednesday 9 August.
Some leave for me
I am delighted to be able to take some Long Service Leave across the first three weeks of Term 3. Our Deputy Principals, Mrs Gatti, Mr Meijboom and Ms Waide, will be replacing me across this time.
Happy winter vacation to everyone in our school coimmunity. I hope you enjoy the next fortnight and are ready to resume school on 10 July as we continue our focus of Good at learning - Good at life.
Kind regards
Vic

Celebration of learning
On Wednesday, Year 2 students participated in Sports Fun Day on the oval. The children had so much fun, being active and working together in various physical activities. The morning started with sprints and a lap race. The encouragement from spectators and parents was wonderful to see. After a big morning of running races, the class enjoyed their Subway lunch. In middle session, we completed a rotation of activities that included Long Jump, High Jump, Basketball, AFL, Tug-o-War and Indigenous Games. It was a wonderful day full of FUN, FITNESS and FRIENDSHIP! What a great way to end the term!

Celebration of learning
To conclude our HASS “Celebrations and Commerations” topic, all year 3’s proudly displayed their bright, fabulous posters in the hall. Each poster illustrated a variety of celebrations from Hanukkah, St Patricks Day, Valentine’s Day and Easter. Children learnt about the history, traditions and interesting facts of the above celebrations.
All Year 3’s participated enthusiastically in using their measurement knowledge to each make a Hedgehog slice. The groups all worked as ‘Cogs’, taking turns and being polite. Hope you all got a taste!

Celebration of learning
Students in 4M have been practising their fluency and expression in both Arts and in class, through reading poetry. Students pay special attention to the punctuation in the poems, lowering and raising their voices, reading at an appropriate rate and emphasising on some words. Students enjoyed completing a final activity where they could identify fluency errors and recording themselves reading these poems correctly.
